The usual rules are off the table. BMW is doing such odd things that I'm not going to be surprised if they screw the bumper up. The rear is not looking promising so far unfortunately…

I personally disagree, to me it looks very promising and agressive. It seems the M2 will differentiate itself with a cohesive change from the G42’s triangular bumper design language to a rectangular both in the front and rear. Together with the wider stance and flared fenders it should look great with a boxier race car inspired design. Really looking forward to the reveal.

You can also see the outline of the headlight is the same as the G42.

Unless it's some sort of camera distortion, I feel like that has to be it. If so, wow those fenders are wiiiide and remind me of my 1M!

I think that's just a M240i which is a wide car already, as wide as a F87. In that pic, the bottom portion looks like a 2 Series muffler. The G87 has ridges in the bottom of its muffler.

Interesting, yeah you're probably right. In which case, makes the M2 even more promising bc we know that will be quite a bit wider than m240

Yes, they literally carried over the drivetrain from the G80/2 so it's going to be really wide. The G80/2 have 285 front and 295 rear tires. They might give the G87 narrower tires like they did with the F87, but in that case it was only one size down. If they do it would get 275 front and 285 rear which is still wide. It's going to look sick.

Combination of a lot of extra cladding on the rear bumper bc it's a prototype, plus the picture looks to be taken with a fisheye lens. Either way, the rear is the only thing I'm slightly concerned about on this car.

Just a slight correction but the G80/2 have 275 front and 285 rear tires... but your point remains that the M2 might get narrower tires as it did in the F87 generation.

I stand corrected. Not sure how I mixed that up, but I'm glad you pointed that out.

These wheels are already listed in Germany for G87 in 19/20 with 275/285, e.g., https://www.baum-bmwshop24.de/bmw-ko...chbereifung-1/

bIs it possible we won't see any fender gills with this car? Other than the MPP car, we're staring at a flat/blank fender.

When they hide the cars features they place thin molded plastic over the body and then layer it with the zebra swirl tape so you can't see what they don't want you to see. As they continue testing you'll see more and more of the molded plastic removed, but still taped. That's when you can make out more details of the car, albeit still hard to see. As testing progresses they will drop all molding and then you'll even start to see full panels without any molding or tape on them.

TLDR; it'll have the side vents.

Yeah they honestly probably have the cutout there just covered by camo and it'll be an easy snap-on once it's ready to go on.
