I was looking through g20 forums to see if they figured it out and it’s unfortunately a no at this point. So nothing in BimmerCode will disable them even for the 3 series.

Did you have any luck with this? I was thinking of wrapping it, but was a bit concerned about the vinyl disintegrating...

is there any reason you could not just paint that, or vinyl wrap it? I feel like I must be missing a complication?

Of course you can. There is no reason that the grill motor or solenoid would be one with the chassis/body harness. The part has to be replaceable in the event of collision etc. Without even looking, there is basically zero doubt that you could unplug it. But what you will only find out by trying it, is if will stay open when unplugged, or if it will cause a trouble code. Last edited by PNTDG42; 12-29-2022 at 03:00 PM.. |

I stopped to pick up lunch yesterday and from inside the store I saw my grills were open. Prior to powering off I was in Sport Plus with AC off. I guess it's based on maybe engine temp alone or a combination of engine temp and driving mode?

I believe its based on engine temp. When I drive hard and park I see the grille stay open for a bit usually like a minute after turning the car off. If I go on a short drive in sport+ and park driving lightly I don't see them open after I park

AC on max + Sports Plus Sports Plus and engine temp I am now wondering if they would open for any drive mode, solely based on temp |
