Pretty interesting review from Imran focusing on what the car is like to drive rather than looks/interior.

Can it convince Imran that it deserves an M badge?

… feels like a mini G80 M3

Good review. One of the better ones.

Nice review. Like his feedback and thoughts, he knows a thing or two about BMWs. Can't wait to get mine, when it eventually arrives

I would be lying if I said I’d followed the launch of non M cars closely the last decades but if feels like it was a long time ago since I non M car got this much praise across the spectrum of reviewers?

As a previous M3 multiple owner, I can confirm this car does not disappoint. If this M240i went up against a true Mcar on a race track, there would be more of a margin between the two. For daily spirited driving, the m240i is as good and arguably better! In my opinion

I agree and I’m coming from a row of M3s as well and to be precise the M240i is my wife’s. My next BMW will be another ICE M before they are gone. The M240i is a true joy, the things I do miss vs an M3 is the feeling of robustness and the front end of the M240i isn’t nearly as crisp. Then once you are used to Merino leather, it’s pretty nice

So an excellent street car lacking little but it ain’t no M and if you know for sure that type of car is your preference the M240i isn’t ticking all boxes and it shouldn’t. My wife prefer it over the M3s so there’s a clear niche for both.

Yep. Makes good sense.

I did a 550klm return drive today. The car was brilliant. I noticed that compared to the M3/M2 I have owned, this gearbox is so much smoother! It is as engaging, however there is no aggressive downshift from slowing to a stop like the older m cars. It's just so nice.

Again not trying to compare the raw ability of the M240 against a true M car, I am comparing how much nicer the M240 is for a daily drive.

I love this car so much!

Yes, it’s a car that makes you smile and focusing on specific areas that aren’t perfect or as good as on an M car is kind of pointless unless you are on the track. Fun is fun and this is the first non M car I’ve driven in decades that put a smile on my face and not just make me pine for the glory days of BMW when all cars were fun

I think Imran nailed it when he said this car feels closer to an M car than what we'd regard as an M-lite car.

His statement saying "it's like a mini M3" literally says everything you need to know! And coming from Imran his statement holds good weight.

Just visually, even the 230i is way closer to an M car now. I've said this before, but some of the appeal of the F87 was that the base cars where so bland. For lots of people they will actually see the M240i as an M car. Can't blame them, M mirrors, wide stance, agressive look...

I wish I could get one with "moonroof delete" like you can get on a 230i. I'd like to take the weight down a bit and lower the center of gravity and maybe add some more headroom.

Other than that, it's a great car and I suspect they will sell well and may even be faster 0-60 than a manual G87 M2. The grill is starting to appeal to me.

I remember when I bought a 135i and hated it, this is the type of car I had hoped it would be.
