I have it on very good authority that THIS will be the key for the G87!

Why would you want actual keys? Everything should be app based at this point. Keys are outdated. I have two Teslas and not having keys is absolutely the way to go.

This looks like the key had way too much to drink. Wtf is up with those symbols being all over the place? Yikes! Burn that key immediately.

Symbol placement is less than perfect but the outfit has a nice feel, doesn't interfere with the key reader and I like the look. Stays on.

That's the same key I had on my M4C (rip). At least it's not the regular old keys the F87 came with while all the other M's got M keys.

Though the key we're getting appears to be settled, here's more proof.

Has anyone found a cover that works with these G87 fobs? I have tried two different ones and the key is too big. They have increased the plastic thickness on the detachable portion (physical key) quite a bit versus the old versions. Compare the mostly silver version posted by T_U_D on page one versus those posted on page two. That bottom section makes the fob too tall to fit the covers.

Thing is with the Digital key card and on phone key - keys will lose their relevance/importance over time.

I find myself using my phone to tap and enter and start the car more regularly given convenience and having to carry one less thing.
6MT does not and will not have digital key right?

Does not (currently). Probably will not for MY2023, although there's nuance. Disclaimer: all of this is my understanding, it's always possible I'm wrong. BMW has been very opaque on this topic.

OK, technically, there's Digital Key and Digital Key Plus.

The former only requires WiFi, AFAIK our crappy hardware COULD support it. But BMW has decided we don't get it, and I see little reason they would change their mind.

The latter requires NFC, and we cannot have it ever, since we don't have an NFC receiver in the car.

It's also possible that BMW will switch over to the new hardware at some point, and maybe future G87s will get Digital Key/Plus. Who knows?

Having the same issue. The key is too big. Would like to get a cover rather than a sleve. Any recommendations?
