Brooklyn Grey / Cognac Interior G87 M2 photos & impressions from BMW UDE event

Hey gang. Like pretty much everyone on this forum, I've been waffling back and forth as to what my thoughts are on this car. I placed my order back in June of 2022, gave my deposit and clicked refresh on Bimmerpost.com every six hours hoping for updates to be leaked. When it was first finally officially introduced, I was devastated. I was leaning towards calling my dealer, asking for my deposit refund and relinquishing my #1 allocation spot for this car. That was probably three months ago. Luckily I waited it out, kept seeing more and more pics of the new M2 in the flesh. Yesterday I finally got to see one in person at the BMW Ultimate Driving Event in NJ. It was there for everyone to see and man did it attract a crowd. People were flocking to it, huddled around it.

So as a person who's very familiar with the outgoing F87 M2, being that I owned two M2 CS's over the last two years, I can honestly say I really like it. It just puts a smile on your face. Is it bulky, boxy, kinda haphazardly thrown together? Yes. Is it confusing, inconsistent and awkward? Sure. But when you see it in real life you can tell it is special. The bulges, the boxiness, the hood bump, it just kinda fits. Even the taillights with those weird vertical reflectors, you can tell this is a serious car. After seeing it yesterday, I can't wait to take delivery of this. Mine is at the port as many other's cars are. Within two weeks or so I hope to have it home. In conclusion, for those of you on the fence, wait it out. Not to mention I'm sure this thing is a monster on the road!

And now for the pics of course:

Thanks for the photos and the pep talk. I should have gone to that event, but then again, you can't drive the M2, and my build is locked. Your photos, along with all of the BG looks around here and on the interwebs over the past couple of weeks, have really helped me come around on the color. Used to hate it. Now I like it, especially with the bi-color wheels and the CF roof. I personally don't love the Cognac and am glad I spec'd black with blue stitching. My biggest concern at this point is the Pirellis. Hope I win the Pilot Sport lottery!

That's quite the turnaround. It definitely looks great in person and that side profile is to die for IMO.

Glad you kept your order and congrats!

Great write up! This makes me excited to get my BG! The cars side profile is just fucking mean, and I can’t wait to see it lowered with good fitment!

That's my spec. Love the Cognac leather myself. I've always had neutral exterior colors with warm, punch interiors.

Noticed the tire used for this is Pirelli…hopefully we all win the tire lottery when the car slowly rolls out.

I'm going tomorrow to the UDE. A bit disappointed they won't have a ZB or TR M2, but still happy to be able to see it in person.

I have to say, out of all the color combos I've seen so far, this one is impressive. It manages to be classy but works well with the G87.

I've only seen a blue one in person and it certainly wasn't for me, but I'm curious about Brooklyn.

P.S. Not to beat a dead horse any further, but that's a whole heck of a lot of wheel gap.

Looking sharp , I'm digging the Cognac myself . I know it's a different shade but I loved saddle brown back in my e92 days.

Hopefully BMW releases the cognac buckets in the near future would pair nicely with BG or BSM

Seriously though, I’ll be a little pissed that my 2022 M240 came with Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires if my M2 comes with Pirellis lol

Thanks for the write up and shots.

I'm also very much on the fence with this and trying to keep an open mind long enough to log some meaningful seat time.

I love the cognac interior but being that mine is an HEA car I'm stuck with the black seats.
