Turner Motorsports oil cooler protector fitment
Has anyone installed the turner motorsports oil cooler protector plates on the g87? The side plates fit well, as in they seem to sit flsuh even before tightening the provided screws.
But when installing the center oilcooler part, it seems like I needed to wrestle the part into place. There is a rubber seal on the plate that looked like the oil cooler would slot into it, but it doesn't and it seems to be inplace to create a seal around the cooler. Also, the rubber seems to be too thick and is pushing against the cooler and feels like a unnatural fit. Also, The front portion which slides under the front bumper also seems to make the black trim not sit right. Although, all blots holes aligned perfectly and after tightening it up the fit seems to be decent, it is bothering me that that rubber seal pushing against the oil cooler with good amount of pressure. The YT videos I have found so far were all G80/82 which doesn't talk about any tight fitment issues. May be I am overthinking, but would like to hear from other fellow members. |

Sorry I opted for the Mishimoto one cause Turner's C/S was of no help when I reported an issue with their G42 plate. The G42 plate is actually well made, even over-spec in terms of thickness, it could pass for a casual off-road build, which is totally unnecessary IMHO.
The issue I had, some others confirmed as well, was with the rear fitment. The concept was great - Turner's actually provides 2 well-machined brackets to be sandwiched towards the rear between the cross member and the plate, EXCEPT they made the brackets ~2mm too short, so when the plate is mounted, part of it is actually butting up against the cooler ever so slightly and generates vibration noise, very noticeable when the car is parked and idle. This could be due to manufacturing variances between vehicles. Ended up using thick stainless fender washers to increase the gap. My experience with their C/S left a bad taste and decided not to buy their plate for the G87. Couldn't talk to anyone except for the person handling messages, and all the email inquiries were relayed, so by the time I received a response (usually a non-response), the information is distorted. Sorry for being off-topic, their product is well made, just not 100%. Good luck in getting the fitment you expect. |

I think it’s good to know it should fit properly so he at least knows something is off instead of assuming it’s “good enough” and leaving it as is. Try to redo the steps or affix the centre portion first to see if it installs more easily OP. |

Re adjusted, seems to be better but not perfect. And it is hard to know the imperfection unless one does the job, from outside it does look perfect. Can someone provide the stock close-up photo of this black trim area. Would be good to compare. I would be surprised if the fitment of this black trim is 100% given how thick the plate is.
