Rear Bumper Replacement—Alternatives

So some dickhole hit my car, rear bumper, driver’s side. Also the black lower trim is scratched too. Insurance says new bumper.

So question—any suggestions to what I could do different, as the bumper is getting replaced anyway? I saw a 540 get an M5 rear bumper after an insurance fix.

Not sure there is anything alternative out there, but thought it could be an interesting discussion!

I haven't seen anything, maybe upgrade to a carbon diffuser, that's about it in the rear.

Options have been very limited on this car. Only new items seem to be anything that happens to also fit from the G87. Since the bumpers are different, I doubt we'll ever see one.

You are on point. I hate the fact that our rear "diffuser" or more correctly a cheap piece of plastic swapped to a CF version is the only upgrade available for us.

I love my car-- but BMW really dropped the ball with that diffuser.

I came across this recently. It's interesting but I'm not sure if it's gonna look like too much on my BSM m240i. I plan to do cf diffuser in the future and I'm worried it will just make my rear bumper look mismatched. Still trying to figure it out in my head. This may be the one time cf looks better on non-black car. If anyone is good with Photoshop or AI imaging post a pic here on BSM.

One of my issues with our “diffuser” other than it not being a real diffuser is that it rides up in the middle on the bumper like a toddler’s $hit in the back of a diaper. Why couldn’t BMW make it in line with their other models?
