Sport/Non-Sport Seats Side-by-Side
Hey all!
I was looking for a side-by-side when I was trying to make the decision and never found it, so I figured I'd post for others who might be curious. It was so hard to tell how different the seats really were. After a lot of back and forth, I finally pulled the trigger on purchasing some sport seats for my 2011 e91. I have a fairly uncommon color combination (Tasman exterior and Saddle Brown interior) which I wanted to preserve. I also had the electric adjust seats, heated seats, and lumbar support I wanted to retain as well. I lucked out and found the seats I needed but with freight shipping they cost almost 20% of what I paid for the car. Ultimately, I am happy with the decision. The fact that it was such an easy swap (the longest part was waiting the 25 minutes with the battery disconnected before unplugging/plugging in the seats) and I retained all my functionality made it that much better. I will say this though: the seats are now much more capable than the car. I feel like I'm in my e46 M3 but when I try to really toss it into a corner, it reminds me real quick that I'm in an otherwise stock e91. |

Thanks for sharing your journey and the pics! The first BMW I had was an 06 E90 way back in the day when they were fairly new. Great car with the sport option. I fell in love with the seats, it truly made the car. Well, I bought it when I was young and not making enough money to afford it... Fast forward a year later and I sold it to get out of a loan. The BMW bug bit me and a year after selling, I got into another Bavarian. This time it was one I could afford in cash, a late model E36. Great little car, but it did NOT have the sport option. As a 6'3" guy, I truly missed those thigh bolsters. Eventually a year or so later I moved up to an E46 and made it a requirement to find one with sports seats. 5 BMWs later, any time I go to make a purchase that is the first thing on my list the car MUST HAVE. It truly makes the driving experience that much better and, to me, gives the car's interior the BMW personality and feel. Glad to hear you made the decision! Its one of those things you interact with on the daily while driving a car and you'll get the most out of. Enjoy!
P.S.- As an owner of a terra spec'd interior, I know your pain! The older these cars get, the harder it'll be to find in good condition. |

Those look GREAT! Sport seats are mandatory... easy to find in black, but availability in other colors is tough! I spent a year trying to find some gray sport seats, so can only imagine how long you've been looking and what you must have paid for the terras! I eventually had to settle for some early models even though the car is LCI. I'll have to figure out how to add in the LCI headrest!

Amazingly, I just got the car last month. The fact that these seats were available as soon as I started searching, albeit on the other side of the country, made me pull the trigger. I figured it could be the last time I'd find them for the foreseeable future.

Fun story: My daughter who's in SC picked up the seats in Campbell this weekend! She has to carry them around town for the next two months till she comes home! |

If you fit in them, they are great! But if you are a huge gorilla of a dude like I am, they can be torture devices. So anyone contemplating buying some really needs to try before they buy unless they are a skinny fella. BMW fixed that while breaking so many other things in the FXX cars. i don't fit AT ALL in these seats, but the sport seats in my M235i were delightful.
Always nice to hear about another Tasman car, albeit with the wrong color interior. Chestnut is the only correct interior color for Tasman.
