What are the differences between the auto vs manual subframe?
So I’m doing a VERY overdue rear subframe & suspension overhaul due to rust/age/mileage. I’ve since bought a used rear subframe assy cleaned, degreased removed any flakey rust and painted this subframe. However I’ve just realised this subframe came of an auto and mine is a manual. Now I guess there must be some differences between the two as bmw wouldn’t go to all the effort of making a different subframe for nothing right! I can’t see the subframe mounts changing location between subframes because that would therefore mean the whole chassis would be different and I can’t see any of the rear suspension linkage arms being different either as auto/manual shouldn’t require different setup like xdrive does. So I believe all that’s left that bolts onto the rear subframe is the rear differential which we all know IS different between the manual and auto, with this in mind will this used rear subframe from an auto fit my manual diff? Have I missed anything else? Thank you!
