So I never checked because honestly i didn't really care but the mpe comes with a valve already installed on it when you get it. Maybe the valves are different?

Extremely happy with the sound but you got to rev it out in Sport + to really appreciate. I am not saying you need to redline it but above 3K it starts its journey and then all the way up to redline it sounds really sweet. To me sounds like a muscle car. It does crack and burble when you lift off gas.
I will say it comfort you notice it but barely.
Very happy with it.
Think as the car puts on miles (only 1200 now) it will even be better.
Just got the MPE, I completely agree with your summary.

A valve controller also opens the valve to 100% full open, whereas the valve only opens to around 80% by default.
The orginal valves opened 100%, you could visually see this if you opened the valve with Bimmer Link and looked in the tail pipe, then pull the fuse to keep it open, I just added a switched fuse so I don't need to pull it any longer, no need for a controller. I can't see the valve on the MPE, as I added new tips, but would assume it was the same part and therefore went 100% open. I'll need to grab my bore scope to verify the valve is 100% open. The M series use a different valve that throttles its position up to 80%.

Good info. I didn’t realize that the valve used on M2 vs M240i is different.

I verified with the bore scope, the valve is 100% open on the MPE valve

Any update on DP + MPE? Really wanted the dinan based off sounds but looks like the design of the mpe tips is more configurable to have smaller tips
