Half Engine Light after cleaning intake valves and OCC install
Title pretty much says it all... I cleaned my intake valves using THIS procedure, and also installed a Burger Tuning OCC while I was at it. Both went fairly uneventfully, until I got everything buttoned back up and started the car. This is on a 2008 e90 335i btw.
Everything sounds/looks fine, but I get a Half Engine Light, and SES light. I have not driven the car yet, but let it idle for ~10 minutes to warm up, thinking it might be cleaner gunk still in the intake tract. But it still comes back. The codes are Turbo A Signal High (or something like that) and Cylinder 4 misfire, but I'm pretty sure the misfire is from before I did the work (one of the reasons I'm cleaning the valves). At my next opportunity (Thursday, since I will be at work from tomorrow morning until Thursday afternoon), I will take the cowl and engine cover back off and check for loose connections/hoses, but has anyone had similar problems after doing either of these maintenance items? Just looking for some good leads, so I might focus my efforts when looking for the problem. Thanks guys! |

Did you plug back in all the sensors and make sure all the connections were tight? I also had a misfire after I cleaned my valves but eventually it went away.
Sounds to me like you have a boost leak or maybe a problem with one of the map sensors. |

2 sensors, tmap and boost. One on top of the manifold, one in the bottom of the charge pipe. The bottom charge pipe sensor gets forgotten every time I remove the manifold.

M3 Eater, looks like we think the same! Didn't even have to take anything apart, could see the dangling connector as soon as I peered under the intake. Runs fine now, thanks.
