458 Italia and Lexus LFA also did 7:38 at the Ring back in 2010. Is the 458 really that old…

Everyone seems so smug, but there is absolutely no progress compared to an M3 or M4. Not faster, not lighter. If so then what’s the point?

Those internet race jockeys comparing its time with the F87 M2CS will always have a hard time understanding the importance of tires. Each new generation of tire is 5 - 10 seconds faster than the previous one. Put them on the same tires and the difference evaporates.

The M2 and 1M have always been a cut-down M3/M4 and has never performed better in any objective measurement. If in any case the M2 CS was faster than a pre-LCI F8x M3/M4 it was due to the tires and software tweaks. The point is that the M2 is cheaper and feels smaller than the M3 and M4.

BTW, the M2 CS comes on Cup 2 * developed not very long ago separate from the original effort in 2015 that yielded the PSS * that was on F87. It is likely the G87 is a bit faster than F87 M2 CS if equipped with the same tire.

It is (they are) that old. However, that was a vastly different Ring. It's been seriously smoothed out over the years.

As a CS owner this is all well and good, it’s progress. What I can say having driven them back to back, is that the looks and driving feel in the old machine (steering, braking and chassis response) feel way more engaging in the old car all IMHO. So the pace around the ‘ring is just one element, it remains a mystery why the driver engagement fell off in the new gen given the success of the predecessor.

While you guys duke it out like you re comparing baseball cards, I enjoyed the driver’s style. 11/10th driving, scrubbing the last km/hr with understeer to widen his line and position the car at the exit point with right yaw angle. That’s how I drive at the track, I think you get the max slip angle this way, squeezing the max mechanical grip out of the tires.

275/285 vs 245/265 is quite a difference. I think they were both on Cup 2’s though.

I mean, good budget car, it's perfect for those in the northern UK to park on the grass and wash their car at a race track after trailering them in to save on the mileage and road debris as well as tire wear.

Otherwise, BMW has a long way to catch the SUV in their sports cars.

Ferrari, I'd love love to have one. One of the greatest cars, but recently prices went 3x what they were. I'd have to be jake paul vs tyson to have one. I'd take one hit and just stay down for 30Mil.

Pretty sure it's what he's planning.

Really excited to see how this number changes once the LCI xDrive update comes later this year.

Completely incorrect, of course. The G87 was tested to be in fact quicker than the Cayenne Turbo GT, by multiple publications.

I don't think the extra 20 hp are going to make much of a difference, unless there are other updates, like tires.
The CS is definitely going to be quicker, by how much, that's the real question.
There is no xDrive planned to come later this year. I don't think there's going to be an xDrive at all actually but that's a different story.

Why they always choose the ugliest color with black wheels.
Its faster that a lot of cars so is in the came . A little mods and is unstoppable.
Remember that engine should be 510 .
