I felt similar when I first got my M2. Not necessarily in size but I couldn't quite figure the dimensions at the front passenger side corner. I pull into a 2-car garage on the right hand side and always felt like I was way closer to the wall then I actually was. I also feel like I sit way deeper into the car than I did in my STI. I'm at about 1500 miles now and getting much more comfortable now.

Still having an issue with getting the just the right touch on the brakes when coming to a complete stop, letting off and making it completely smooth. 75% of the time I can be completely smooth and 25% I still get the small bite and grab. Don't remember having this issue in any of my previous cars.

Driving a shitty econobox rental this week.. and it's got brake hold. I just can't get over BMW omitting it. 😣

Are you experiencing this in Comfort mode or Sport mode? I hate how the brakes feel in Comfort mode, always switch to Sport as soon as I get the car going.

Your car looks great and I love that frozen color. Enjoy the thing!
Reading this again, helping me feel better - looking forward to getting back to the car.

Comfort. I'm going to change over to Sport and see if it's any better.

I had some similar thoughts. I’m 300 miles in. Coming from an M340i. Hips look huge on the mirrors. Front seems similar. Very nervous driving at the beginning. But after getting some miles in feels incredible. It all goes away. And after break in definitely will be entirely different and already know I will have a smile on my face every time I drive it.

As far as the auto parking brake, it does have a thing kinda similar - if you turn the car off without setting the brake it turns on, or if you forget to turn it off, it turns off once you start driving.
My auto has an Auto H button that toggles if I understand what you’re referring to. Give that a shot

I wonder if they took it from the 6MT.. other MT cars I've owned had it.. then again it wouldn't be the first time BMW did that.

Hey there, I just got done with a long and painful email thread with the Bimmer-remote.com customer service people.

He told me that he has no idea what the CSL coding does, nor how it feels. Kinda a testy little bastard. I'd avoid them if I were you.

Anyway, I'll keep looking to see if I can find some answers and update what I find!

After driving the car this morning with steering in Sport... it should be illegal to set the steering to Comfort by default.

It's still far from amazing but if I had felt it in Sport to start with, I may not have even brought it up.

I’m with him. What were you expecting from the coder?

If you're selling a product, I think it's reasonable that you should know what it does

His product is coding a feature. He knows exactly what he’s selling. The feature is sold by BMW, not him.

Edit: thought of an analogy. It’s like asking the mechanic you paid to install your coilovers if the car is going to ride stiffer or be sharper… he may or may not now. We shouldn’t expect them to know the results of all modifications they make in all cars.

After this tank, let's just say I will not be spending a majority of my time driving it in all comfort.

Side note: brake dust thoughts were NOT exaggerated by the people on this forum. I'm just gonna tell people I have dark bronze wheels instead of the gloss black. Just go with it...
I get much better highway gas mileage in Sport than Efficient setting, and my steering, chasis, & brakes are almost always in Sport or Sport+.

Changing the brake pads was the very first thing I did.

It's like a hockey store selling Bauer and True skates (chosen because you're from Canada, so hopefully the analogy carries). The person who owns the store should realistically know how they are different and why you would choose one over the other. A tuning/car coding company is more niche, think a local hockey shop vs a big box general sports store, and should really know their product. I really think it's poor management to not know what you're selling a customer. Then again, I'm the kind of person who is often more familiar with the product than the dealer/seller regarding the products they sell, so maybe it's just me 🤷

I get it, but again, he’s not selling the product. He’s selling the labour, the service.

It’s really weird because I know my 911 is faster but after driving the M2, I feel like the pedal on the 911 is lazy. It isn’t but that’s how aggressive throttle mapping seduces you.
