I’ve owned multiple cars without CCB’s and they don’t dust anywhere near the levels the BMW’s do.

A great example would be my previous 2018 R8 with steel breaks. Great initial bite from the brakes no fade and more importantly minimal dust.

Do any aftermarket replacement pads use material close to the Audi compound?

I know some switch out to isweep 1500-2000’s but at the sacrifice of initial bite.

Anyone have first hand experience with a good aftermarket solution without the drawbacks?

It's hard to say. Are they really low dust? I haven't seen any Euro car with low brake dust except the newest BMW/Mini UKL cars that seem to come with a type of ceramic pad now.

You have to look at both the actual pad swept surface area and the pad material. I am going to guess that, being mid-engined, the R8 front brakes are a little smaller and the pad may be smaller since the rear can do more work. All Euro cars using high friction pads had a material switch sometime in the mid 2010s to meet environmental regulations, so I don't know why the Audi wouldn't be covered. The BMW cinnamon dust pads are a NAO low copper formula. Old semi-metal BMW M car brake dust used to be gray/black. I think the change occurred just before F8x was introduced.

You won't get Camry level dust with these brakes no matter the pad, though. They are just too big. You can improve for sure, but it'll never be like a 228i GC either.

I have 5k mi on iSweep 1500 on my M2, and 10k mi with them on my wife's X3MC. There is no drawback to these pads in terms of initial bite, or anything else for street driving, imo. If you're tracking the car, obviously you need track-specific pads.

Your correct on the pad swept surface being smaller on the non CCB brakes.

I never realized that would make such a difference. Point taken. I’ll look into the isweep as I didn’t have a great experience with carbotech on my old G80x.

Did you instal the pads yourself? Reason I ask is when I installed carbotechs on my previous g80 they didn’t fit tight. This cause clicking sound when initially applying the brakes.

What made you choose the 1500 over the 2000’s?

Yes, installed myself & very easy to do. I chose the 1500s because the vehicles are strictly daily drivers, with maybe some spirited country road driving every once in awhile.

Ok so I take it they fit properly? I was asking if you self installed to verify fitment of pads in the front calipers.
