E9x tour of Montana
Post pictures of your E90/E91/E92/E93 in scenic places around Montana. Share information about the location and interesting photos even if they do not include your E9x.

I will be taking a drive on my vacation to Sandpoint and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in a couple weeks. It would be nice to see some of Montana on the return trip. I would like to go probably no further into Montana than I-15 and return to Boise, Idaho going the scenic route from there. What are good places to see and photograph in this part of Montana?

We stayed three nights near Glacier National Park, and one night in Bozeman. I have many vacation photos to go through and pick some to share. It will take some time to put them together.
Here is a photo from the drive between Glacier and Bozeman. We stopped in Helena to stretch our legs and see the capitol building. |

A couple miles before the entrance to West Glacier I had to stop in this driveway for a photo.
In Glacier National Park, just East of Logan Pass the view is incredible. A camera lens just can't take it all in. |

It was a 2,000 mile drive and a pretty good vacation. We saw plenty of wildlife, landscapes, fossils, Egyptian stuff, and more. I would like to go back to Glacier National Park for a longer stay and hike more of the trails. |

It's called the International Peace Park World Heritage Site. It is made up of Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, Canada and Glacier National Park in Montana, U.S.A. This is the map you are given when you enter the park.

At Glacier National Park these goats were too friendly. They hung around as if they were tourists like the rest of us. This was at the viewpoint on the Hidden Lake Nature Trail before it descends to the lake.

I haven't made specific plans for more drives, but I might go to Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming for a day in August. Or maybe Yellowstone National Park instead. And I will certainly be touring more of Idaho. Maybe I'll go to the Sawtooth Mountains for a day. Really, there are so many places to see. Have you posted scenic photos with or without your 335d from your travels? Links? I could use more vacation ideas for when I can get on that side of the planet.

Further to the East is Saint Mary Lake. That's Goose Island in the lake.
click the picture to see the full-size photo Here are a couple views of Lake Sherburne on the road to Many Glacier. This is the Many Glacier Hotel at the water's edge on Swiftcurrent Lake. The Swiftcurrent Motor Inn at the end of the road is a major trailhead. There is also a trailer camp site very close by with lots of shade under the trees at Swiftcurrent Lake. This bull moose was done bathing in the little lake near the trailhead of the Swiftcurrent Nature Trail. It's a short hike to Redrock Falls. On the return hike, we saw this big guy about 30 feet from the trail and 10 minutes to the trailhead. We didn't wait for a better angle to get a good photo. |
