Has Anyone done the Golf TEE Mod?

Here is the thread discussing it:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=655592 There is a Youtube vid showing what those guys in the USA did.

Question is, any harm in doing it? If you have done it, notice any difference to the sound of your car.

Don't do this. Your car will explode if you perform this mod.

lol but seriously, no it doesn't do any harm. It keeps the flap open so the exhaust sound is a little louder. Nice and easy mod.

Done the golftee mod, no long term repercussions, slight increase in sound especially on cold start, easily reversible, do it

As pavo335 said, if you have JB4 it's a cool feature. I have always wondered if we might get trouble from cops if say I got stopped at a RBT, but with JB4 you can switch it on/off electronically from the driver seat.

Sounds great in the morning during cold starts. But unfortunately you would hardly notice it while driving.

I have noticed that if I rev it hard at start up (not generally a good idea), the exhaust would get a few loud pops. Sometimes it does it under hard acceleration too, I may* have done it to scare some pedestrians in the city. Not sure if it would normally do it without the golf tee mod. Cheers!

Throws a shadow code. Unless you have CANclear or a diagnostic cable, BMW will question you about this next time at service. That might cause them to delve deeper. Not worth the trouble.
