Changing just the leather door insert

Cant find any info on this. Is there a way to just remove the leather insert on the door panel and replace it? Or is it permanently attached to the door panel?

Well kinda/sorta permanent. AFAIK, they have plastic attachment studs - insert is installed with pins thru matching holes in panel, then the pins are melted/sonically welded on backside to mushroom over a head to retain the insert.

You could carefully re-melt the pins on backside of panel to release the insert - but you would need to be careful not to remove any of pin length as they will need to be melted over yet again when you put the insert back on and there needs to be enough pin protruding thru hole to melt over...

I saw somewhere that someone just cut the pins and used self tapping screws to reattach the panel.
