I've found moderately hard braking events from highway speed to 50mph sufficient to bed in brakes.

Of course you still have to consider following vehicles.

More specifically, the different colored calipers are sourced by different manufacturers (they are not directly made by brembo) and seem to have different pads. So the caliper color is simply a way to identify an inferior set of pads.

Anecdotally. Circumstantially. It's a weak signal, but we haven't found any counter evidence yet either. I have no opinion on the validity of the theory either way, right now.

I must add that my blue caliper equiped M2 also has brake squeal. No worse that the Alfa when I owned it and consider that a bit the cost of owning this type of car.

These definitely squeal more under light braking than hard braking.

Oh I missed that info. Where did we find that the blue and red calipers have different pads and are provided by different OEMs?

Hello guys!
Mine came with a slight vibration when breaking and it became worse from time.
Made a claim with the dealer and they kindly changed the discs and pads under warranty! Now the car feels great and no more vibrations !

One thing they told me was that the new brake pads were different from the old ones!

Can you please ask them “different how” exactly ?

They are probably just saying that through lack of knowledge. Cars are being delivered with both types of brake pad. They are both valid and seem to be dependent on whether supplied by Pagid (weights and groove in pad) or Akebono (no weights or groove), there may also be other suppliers, too. This is also not just G87 specific, any car that uses the same calipers also seems to have both types of brake pad.

The iSweep pads with low dust (1500) also do not have the weights but it dies have the separation groove.
Anyone with that upgrade want to chime in on brake noise?

Took Delivery last month. 650 miles and I have the red calipers with the Akebono (no weights or groove) pads and they are starting to screech. No vibraation. If it gets worse I’ll call BMW but it’s not to that point yet.

If anyone does get their pads swapped on a warranty Cliam please share your experience and any dealer feedback and ease of conversation with them on getting the approval.

Cheers!

Quick update for me: I drove some twisties fairly aggressively this weekend and the brakes are definitely bedded now and have stopped squeaking at low speed braking. Turns out the natural procession of speed on the straights and having to hard brake in the turns did the trick!

Why did the discs need to be replaced?

I am at 1K miles. Light braking I have rather annoying squeeking since mile 1. Not sure if this plans to go away. Hard braking no issue. I havn't done the "seed" test with excessive brake force while at some speed.
So rather curious why such squeakiness during any light braking.

I just finished ceramic coating my rotors and pads, and the squeak is gone.

Hello, i had the same problem last week and they installed the PAGID M3 / M4 pads and problem solved.
They will have to change their supplier.
