Who is OEM Provider for E90 LCI Factory Springs? SACHS?

Hi Guys,

I'm refreshing my E90 LCI M-Sport @ 116k miles on non rflts Falkens FK520 18".

Just realised some noob replaced the rear springs with wrong SE ones (or factory mistake?) as the ride heights are 595mm fronts (correct) and rears are 590mm (WRONG!) It looks like somebody has put on SE springs on this M-Sport model at the rear! Rear ride height should be 577mm!

So I'm replacing the rear springs obviously. But who is OEM for BMW E90 LCI??? SACHS OR LESJOFOR?

Why is their no info on these forums regarding this? Whilst I'm at it, I''ll replace the front springs....might as well.

I'm thinking SACHS are OEM right?

Want to retain OEM feel, eibachs are only useful for lowering, which I don't need.

320d M Sport E90 Manual.

I've gone and ordered SACHS D3 rear springs as that is what comes up on Sachs e catalogue. Didn't know which other make to order so I gone and ordered them

Yes, its SACHS OEM for BMW.

Just ordered D3 Rear Springs from Autodoc and the Box had the BMW Group sticker on it, so its basically BMW Springs at half price or cheaper!

Thanks for the follow up, I've been wondering about this.

What confuses me is that many of the Sachs part numbers apply to a range of BMW part numbers. Are those equivalent to the stiffest/longest part number in the range? In some cases, it seems like if you wanted to get the exact original part number, you might have to buy the BMW one.

For example, say I want to replace BMW part number 31 33 6 767 376 (front D4).

Sachs 993 255 applies to both 31 33 6 767 375 (D3) and 31 33 6 767 376. What does that mean?

I understand your confusion. Obviously, all M-Sport or Sport BMW models use a 'D' coded spring as opposed to 'C' coded spring for SE models.

My understanding is the D1, D2, D3, D4 are firmer respectively, and are used depending on what the car was specced with from factory. I seen somewhere that D3 can be used instead of D4, for example, but not too sure exactly what the crack is.

You are best going on autodoc.com, entering your reg number and click on Springs, select Rear Axle then Select SACHS then take a look at the filtered results. For the fronts, you'll see two options (m and SE) for auto trans and two options again for man trans. For rears, you'll see only two options: M and SE.

Then go onto https://aftermarket.zf.com/go/en/sachs/catalogs/#/ which is the SACHS e-Catalogue, excellent to use, and see what it comes up after entering your reg no.

My question is, what am I compromising by using a Sachs D3/D4 spring (the same 993 255 part is used for both D3 and D4) vs. the BMW one that appears to be more precisely-spec'd to my car?

Not sure mate, but I'm having a positive experience with the SACHS & AUTODOC suggested D3 OEM springs. Car feels more softer, but time will tell, after 200 miles or so, and handling is better. My shocks are original and at 116k miles, I'm replacing them with B4 Sports + Monroe rubber mounts.

So my suggestion would be, Stick to OEM ride heights and OEM Springs as per SACHS online part finder.
