Yeah I saw this. He probably could've done the same with just the JB4. Doesn't have a DP either.

Seriously impressive performance on the part of the M240i. I know some will argue the apples to oranges stock vs tuned thing but when considering the price points and just a piggyback and intake on the M240i, there's tons of bang for buck. I can't fault anyone for going that route and saving approximately $40-50K.

B58 wakes up with mods for sure

But I must say you have to screw up the launch badly on the M3 xDrive to get these poor numbers and make this drag race exciting also saying the M3 is more than double the price is misleading because you just happened to pick a car specced with individual color and carbon ceramics etc... They should use starting price but of course it doesn't help the underdog story of the video

I would take the M3 for the color alone. And I don't even like the big gaping grill. And I own and love a M240. Please please BMW, offer a bold green on the G87.

Why is the m3 Xdrive running high 11s? It's a low 11 second car.

TBH if you just want a street car you're probably better off the the non-M for the vast majority of buyers. Straight lines stuff like this and stop light races the difference will be marginal. The M performance cars are plenty quick and just a cheap mod away from being contenders on the street.

Ain't no one going to pick a 2-series vs. a proper M car just because it's a bit faster after slapping a tuner on there.

I would. I don't go to the track and don't want to spend $100k+ for a daily. People like you wouldn't, just so you can say you have an M.

Sounds like a real M wasn't ever a true consideration for you, which is fine. But that's not what I'm referring to in my post above.

£107k List Price?
I'd love to know how and fair play to the owner for giving the dealer £15k for his lovely green paint.

M3 Comp XDrive + Ultimate Pack is £92k what is missing...?

Agree but that's not the point of inflammatory comparison videos in straight-line cars. Plus no-one can ever possibly apply a similar £500 tuning box to an M3 and re-test.

Go underdog, go underdog! Yeah we showed them £100k car owners up realllllllllllll good.

Everytime one of these videos come out it turns into a m "lite" vs real m debate. Can't we just take it for what it is. We all know an M is a better drivers car but the m240i is great on its own and it's nice to see what it can do with a few small mods.

As was said it's a modded car vs a stock and it does quite well for it's price point.

Very impressive.

Not to take anything away from the M240, but the G80 driver didn't seem to launch the car properly.

Considered an M2 in 2019 and waited when covid happened, then 2 years later the G42 sold me. Tons of bang for your buck for daily use.

And gotcha, sorry, re-reading I agree. Someone looking at buying an M3 wouldn't change their mind to buy an M240i over a tuned M240i being a hair faster.

It looked to me that even when the M240i won it still looked slower than the M3. The M3 was slowly reeling it in. But the M3 launches were just so bad it could never overcome it.
