Mild Hybrid 48V system

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi all,

Having a general wondering and wanted to start a thread on that. Given that the 48 v hybrid system is on the 340, 440 and other m performance m40 cars, why isn't it on the m240? It's the same engine and same platform…Feel like we are being discriminated.. Lol

I believe from one review that the system adds m, more weight to the car and she is heavy enough as it is. I also think the on the 340/440 the system is more to conserve fuel then add addition HP.

IMO, unless the system can add a "boost" like the F1 cars, I don't want it lol. we all know what we're getting into when we buy a "M" or "M sport" car.

My understanding: the 48V is more of a "comfort" equipment that helps roll out the car when engine stop and start is at work. For a car focused on sportiness, it may not be that needed.

I’m glad we don’t have it. Less shit to go wrong.

Apparently not enough space to fit in a mild hybrid unit. Glad car doesn't have it, more weight and more things to go wrong. From what I've seen from the reviews, performance and driving experience isn't any worse without it compared to a 340 / 440.

Nope

Had it on my 2022 X3. Not impressed and there was no way to turn off the engine cutoff feature when stopped. I absolutely hate that feature and one of the reasons I got rid of that X3. It would also add weight to front of an already heavy car.
Thats all
