I do not want the regen braking to effect my sporty driving on twisty roads so I will cancel my order if it has it. |

Mine is sitting at Finished Production and I live pretty close to Galvestion (which I guess is the first stop?). The dealer says I should have mine in early Sept. Kinda hoping for it not to have mild hybrid, but I could take it or leave it.

I checked my build date which was August 8th. I live in Texas also. We will probably be on the same boat.

Cancelling the order just for the addition of the mild hybrid system seems a bit overkill to me, this is not an electric vehicle, the regen braking in this 48v system is barely noticeable, i don't think it could every affect your spirited driving

Fair, I can be a bit overzealous and OCD. I’ve watched a few review videos on the 48v mild hybrid M340i and M440i and it doesn’t seem like it’s a bad thing at all. Gonna keep it!

it's more just annoying. if the ASS button is still there then thats totally fine, but if they take that button away and you have to dig through menus to get it off or constantly keep it in sport, then that is a totally fair QOL type of feature to be picky about for a $50k+ car you will use nearly every day

Hey guys,
M240i owner here! I’ve driven an X4 M40i in France for a week and had no issues with the mild hybrid EXCEPT the reduction in engine noise (no pops/crackles). Start/stop is smoother and the cars engine shuts off on the highway but braking feel is not affected…tbh braking feel is quite sh** in the M240i. It would be sad to see this disappear from the M240i because it is meant to be the fun sporty option! It’s the only reason I didn’t go for the M440i I reside in Australia and we don’t have OPF on our M240i’s Cheers |

I wish my m240i had the 48v hybrid after I read the BMW tech PDF on it and talked to a x3 m40i owner that has it. Maybe if this was my sporty car I might prefer to skip it, but for my use it sounds appealing. Little more torque off the line, and tons of extra fuel economy. The x3 m40i big heavy SUV with the 48v B58 crushes the MPG in our lighter and more aerodynamic 2 series without it.
Pretty cool tech. The starter on the bellhousing is gone. The alternator is replaced with a starter/generator unit that drives the engine on the serpentine belt. The 48v battery goes in the empty cowl compartment opposite of the brake booster. |

So will the '24 M240i get the B58TU2 with the 48v mild-hybrid technology?
I don't know what to think about it as I wanted to order the new G42 and thought it was a pure petrol engine... Coming from my actual B58, I hope it would push more Edit: anyone know if it will be US only or for the European market too?

Found this on an X3 forum:
All BMWs with the 48v hybrid systems no longer have the start stop button. And no it's not completely seamless but definitely better than it was without the system. |
