I didn't think it could get any worse...well it got worse. Time to fire the BMW Design Team.

Hey Imran, I'm curious what your thoughts are on the overall design of the G87? Sans the M Perf parts which are a trainwreck, and I'm being polite here.

The front bumper/splitter I like but can do without the fin things. Feels like a huge missed opportunity on the rear if the vents aren't functional. However on a darker colored car the body kit could work, especially in a matte/satin black.

Anyone know when the online configurator will be up?

I think they have designed the M-perf parts targeting more younger Gen. Not sure if younger Gen prefers it or not (am in my late 30's and can't comment for them). If they do, it will sell well for that demographic.
After market non-OEM CF parts will have more classic styles that rest can choose.

I saw an M240i at my local dealer service. It had an M2CS CF spoiler and looked actually good, but was placed bit back to make it fit. Am sure non-OEM parts will have more options for us.

This is it man. This is now German BMW styling, not a plan to cater to the Asian market.

Repeatedly rationalizing poor design choices by saying it's an appeal to Asian markets is getting old. Love it or hate it, BMW has carved this niche intentionally and should now be accepted as overstyled BMW specific styling. Honestly no one is designing cars like this, not even Asian car makers.
Well, of course this is the new design language from BMW…but just look a bit at some statistics and then you know why maybe that language has evolved

If you sell more than double the cars in China than in Germany itself…what you gonna focus on mainly? This still does not mean that the cars won't appeal in other markets

https://www.statista.com/statistics/...-of-bmw-group/
I don't see MB, Audi, VW, Range Rover, Jag, Hyundai/Genesis, etc going this route.

Sure there are a couple of models that are "overstyled" but they're few and far between.

Even Honda has toned down the new civic styling, same with Toyota/Lexus which were known for that obnoxious spindle grill. Never thought I'd say this, but even the Supra seems more tame than the M2.

It's the design phase that bmw is going through, hopefully they'll tone it down as well, but it's not happening until the next set of model redesigns, maybe 6/7 yrs from now.

Unfortunate for many ICE manual enthusiasts who were looking forward to the G8x cars.

Anyway, upside is that it's a stick so it'll prob be purchased in a few years despite the looks. Pricing also works in the M2s favor.

What younger generation? Someone in college, or is still a teen? How do they afford a $60,000+ car? I cannot picture a single adult looking at these M-Perf parts and thinking they look good.

I think someone mentioned it earlier: they look like a ridiculous set of add-ons from a video game made in the late 90's. That, or they ripped off Autozone.

Yeah...Not a fan of the performance parts. The standard G87 looks better IMO.

Who ever designed these parts must be one of those dorks who drool over a Mansory Urus.

WTF is this sh*t?

Subtract the strakes on the sides and the additional sticker graphics and it looks good to me.

The whole front is a win. The front inserts for the side air intakes look excellent. Blacking out the insides makes the openings look even more aggressive.

Well at least it's competitive priced against the Civic type R.

According to some M3 owners.

Going from a Honda Accord at $35K to an M3 at 80K+ it just a little extra focus on saving.
