PPF question

I just picked up my BSM g87 yesterday and will need to get PPF. I originally wanted to just get the front covered. Now that I have seen the car in person, I am considering getting the rear quarter covered as well since they flare out a lot and I find myself asking my kids to be super careful when when they walk around with backpack etc in the garage. Anyone got their rear done and how high up did you go?

Front clip only for me. If doing the rear, you dont want to do a partial fender/quarter (like a front bikini). Do the whole rear quarter so the ppf goes to the body seams with no cuts on the middle of the quarters.

I had the displeasure of getting a healthy door ding along with a lot of paint transfer from a white colored vehicle that vanished. With PPF all the paint cleaned off the film but of course a dent remains. With how deep and seemingly hard of I hit my door took, without PPF I wouldn't be able to just 'live with it' or now be able to look into paintless dent removal options.

Here's my opinion on PPF, take it for what it's worth.

I was highly skeptical when I first got it installed on my 2017 M2, so I only got a track package which is hood, bumper, fenders, a-pillars.

In 2023 my only regret is that I didn't PPF the entire car.

I always get my sides done in PPF.

All of the "parking lot battles" leave scars there, as well as people brushing by with bags and things.

And when you do get a ding, it is a $100 visit from the paintless guys and it is looking like new.

How much is full car vs front clip usually never done PPF and now with my car coming planning on doing at least the front, not sure if I should swing for the full car instead.

I only did the front of my Golf R (Bumper, Hood, Front Fenders, A-Pillars, and Mirrors) and it held up so great, but I constantly worried about the rest of my car and would find the occasional scratch or stain. I couldn't believe how quickly a bird bomb stained my car. One day at the train station and the stain never went away.

This time I'm PPF-ing the entire car. I picked up my car this week and drove it right to the detailer. Current cost is $5500. It sounds steep, but in my opinion worth every penny in peace of mind.

When I was having my f87 ppf'd, the shop owner showed me another f87 that just happened to be at the shop. He had backed over a mailbox and it ripped the ppf all the way down one of the panels. Didn't scratch the paint at all, just had to remove a couple small dings and re-ppf the panel.

I just booked my appointment

Full front ppf (+mirrors etc)
Lower side skirt
Cf roof
Rear quarter panels

$3,750

This car is my 4th car. I have a daily so I didn’t want to go completely overboard with the ppf. Funny thing my s2k I have had for 17 year is full of battle scars from track days and just using it as a normal car. I would have done a full ppf on that car if I knew I was going to keep it forever but back then no one did ppf never thought of certain cars as appreciating asset.

In the process of booking appointment for ppf and tint. Looks like I’ll be doing front end, CF roof and side skirts as well as tinting all the windows. God it is expensive….

I will likely keep my M2 for a very long time (have a 135i that I don't plan to get rid of), so I am going to PPF the whole car. I'm looking at $6k for full car PPF with STEK, plus $800 ceramic coating on the full car + wheels and $600 ceramic tint on everything except the windshield.

Price is a bit steep, and I got some quotes for around $5.5k, but decided to spring for the STEK rather than Xpel and also went with a guy that has 5 stars.

I just can’t. If I did the quarter I’d have to do the entire side. Just like I can’t do partial Hood. That ugly edge it leaves, and than always gets dust and grime.

Debating if I want to PPF or just wrap the damn thing + ceramic. Changing the color to something nobody has sounds enlightening, however Inozetek isn't very protective like Xpel PPF.

Doing the front nose + roof + rockers + ceramic = same amount as no door jam wrap (they include ceramic as a special) and are not charging me to ppf the cf on top of roof. They also provide a flatbed from dealership upon delivery to the shop which is excellent. Choices and priorities are killing me.

I just did the full front (full hood and fenders). I can’t see the difference between what is PPF’d and what isn’t.

I ran into the owner of my previously owned f87 m2 a couple yrs ago. I had the entire front end ppf’d (xpel) when I first got it and 60k+ miles later, it still looked new. Highly recommend ppf at least the front end of the car. My yas marina f82 m4 next to it.

Did mine at the dealer. They offered to match an independent shop doing full nose plus door for $2600. Then the dealer offer to include those big rockers for total $2950.
Xpel ppf.
Planning to get some ceramic coating in a month or so before the winter.
Got a ceramic shop offering full lifetime warranty for like $1700. Tempting.

Ceramic lifetime warranty? What does that include? Depending on you location, exposure and how you take care of your car, you will be lucky to get five years out of it (and there wont be much left of it at that age).

Yeah, I asked them what it meant. They said "The warranty covers any sort of premature failure of the coating, for the entirety of the warranty period. If the coatings ever have an issue with appearance or performance, all you'd need to do is inform us that there is an issue and we'd bring it in for an assessment. If it is determined that the coating is not performing or looking the way it should, we would redo the entire process under warranty. Lifetime warranty means that for the entirety of your ownership of the vehicle. 100% covered! No question asked."

Does that sounds too good to be true for $1300?

Sounds subjective (on their part) and very sketchy. Price is high, too. Does that include rims and full barrel?
