This video is awesome and Chris Harris as always delivers.
He literally started and finished by addressing every point that I thought was an immense fail on the F87 and why i sold my car... namely the new G87 appears FAR more composed, less bouncy and snappy... in other words a far better car in all conditions. I think Bmw has a winner here.

Nice review as always. The UK journos are pretty much always spot on.
Its those from the US that have zero idea & talk absolute shite.

And the playfulness of the f87 was apparently part of its charm. If you want that playfulness, the Z4M40 can play the part - just no manual transmission, yet…and it comes with adaptive dampers. |

This car is really really good, and it’s super hard to ignore the logical progression. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely a better road car.

He did mutilate his own M2CS with rock hard suspension though. Hence the comment on beating him up when he drove it. Stock suspension on the CS fixed the occasional problem on the C where you could get bounced off line and is quite a bit more comfortable too.
G8x is designed to be a much better daily driver than F models and it truly is. It does lose something on the fun aspect but way less people care about this nowadays. However, I don’t have a commute so I just get to enjoy the feels without the downsides. If I did have a commute and only one car it might be a very different story. That’s where the G87 excels. |

A F87cs was significantly more expensive then a G87 when I ordered my car, and there was no hope of finding one local to me. Otherwise with the adaptive suspension I definitely would have considered. But if I have to spend 100k for a used CS vs 70k for a brand new car with warranty? For me (who also likes the design) it was a no brainier.

He also posted a IG story about a month ago where he said he liked the G87 so much he wanted to buy it from BMW but they would only sell it to him at full MSRP even though it was a used press car so he passed. Don’t be surprised if he gets it or M2 CS next year.

Problem is they are not that good and offer very little in terms of useful or accurate information in many cases. Do not watch they dont get paid. They offer nothing you cant sort for yourself. They test yet dont own what others will buy. That limited view is joke in most all cases.

Chris says It is more a daily M car.
I think the F87 is more playable and nimble. As a daily car i think the new one is better. But as a trackday car you could better choose something lighter. |
