having troubles with 5inch vrsf intercooler (550whp)

my friends and i decided to tackle installing my vrsf 5” fmic, which seems easy at surface area as well as the website saying it’s quite easy, it’s not. we’re just normal people that like cars and like to work on them. we got the new charge pipe on as well as all of the couplings, but when we try to put the intercooler itself in, we aren’t able to get the left tire side coupling around the intercooler, which we tried for about 3-4 hours. if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

What do you mean you’re not able to get it around the intercooler? Are you using an aftermarket intercooler hose? The stock hoses go inside the intercooler connections not around them and then the retaining clip (C shape thing) slides onto the intercooler connection and sits in the grooves holding the intercooler hose in. Is this where you are having trouble? It won’t go in? If that’s the issue then take the rubber seal/gasket/o-ring off the hose and apply silicone grease on it then try putting it back together.

If this is the intercooler cold side/charge pipe side connection then look down from the top of the radiator there is this rubber mount holding this hose/pipe in place which makes it hard to wiggle the intercooler cold hose/pipe. The mount looks a bit like a smiley face lol, put a big screw driver in it and twist to release the cold side hose/pipe.

Another tip is to use a jack to support the intercooler and either take the radiator fan out or pull it slightly back and slowly jack the intercooler up there. Be careful the intercooler doesn’t catch on to something.

I have the same and it fit fine.
iirc I think I had to cut the rad support plastic frame at the bottom so it sits where the OEM screw hole are. (use stainless screws).

The coupling that came with fits well, no issue. they are 90° reducers, hard turn and quite long. If you took aftermarket coupling, it might be the issue.
