Very curious how long each step will take to get the cars here from the Mexico plant. Any idea what port your car will go into?

Honestly I have no idea. I'm in Alabama, and I've been trying to read through different threads and I've came to the conclusion that it will most likely be coming by train… but that's pure speculation. I intended to follow up with the 1-800 # when it finishes production and I'll post an update for sure. I was hoping others with orders would chime in on the post so we could collectively keep track but hopefully this will be beneficial to someone.

Just a follow up. Called the 1-800 and has an expected finish date of Oct. 4th. My advisor text to tell me the same info a few days later.

That’s so awesome, can’t wait to hear your impressions after delivery. My CA can’t order one yet. I started the goodbye procedure too soon of my F80 and now need to pace myself, the tires are getting too thin

Figured I'd post my progress here in lieu of the Online Config thread.

Ordered a 230i on 9/20. Entered production on 9/24.

Specs:
230i
M Sport Trim
Alpine White
Cognac SensaTec
Dynamic Handling Package (blue calipers)
Moonroof Delete
No other options/packages (though the Convenience Pkg gets rolled in with M Sport trim)

I was told should be a standard 6-8 week wait for delivery, but I don't know if that's based on anything real. New car, new plant, so we'll see. I was told the simplicity of my order did not flag any supply delays WRT chips.

Congrats! The wait is slowly killing me 😂 I was told it would be 3 weeks to a month after build completion (expected Oct. 4th) for delivery. Truly hoping that's the case. Already been in "today starts production for 2 weeks. Hope it gets started this coming week!

Thanks...yeah, I thought I was ready to wait until Spring, but I'm getting excited now. This'll be my second BMW ever (wasted time with too many Mustangs over the years), the first one was 20 years ago...a 2001 330Ci.

After closer review of the "MyBMW" account info, they don't provide a date for each step of the production. However, if one checks each day, they'll note the change and the effective date therein...at least that's my assumption.

My salesman is great and has provided me his information, which are the same production line benchmarks, but with more data. The big update here is, my car did enter production on 9/24, but that it is scheduled to be completed on 10/08! The next pending step is "Exterior Body Assembly," which is not noted quite yet.

We'll see if the car is done in two weeks, if so, there should be much movement in the "MyBMW" Tracker in the coming days....COVID supply chain issues notwithstanding.

That's around about the same with me. Looks like I'm a week ahead of you with an expected completion date of 10/04. My car still hasn't moved from Production begins though. Hopefully it'll move soon though!

I think our cars are in the same place here - Mine also went into "production begins" on 9/15 with a quoted finish date of 10/4. Hasn't moved since then. When I called the BMW Genius on Monday they told me the ETA was now 10/5, a day of slip but still close.

Hoping to see some movement here soon. Certainly curious if yours progresses at all.

Since mine didn't move today, I called and Est. Completion has got pushed to 10/06.

Yeah. I assume we're both waiting for the same truck full of radios or something to show up at the factory. I'm trying not to bother the genius too much but I'm planning to call again later this week if it hasn't moved by then.

My car is (was?) slated to be completed a week from today on the 8th. However, I am suspicious that'll be pushed to the right since there's been zero movement since 9/24 when it entered production. There'd have to be almost 6-7 steps to clear next week to be completed. I'll keep updated with my build...which is very basic for a 230 M Sport. If I don't have a clear understanding from the "MyBMW" login, I'll ask my dealer next week.

Yea it's not looking like there's much hope on my end either. I've been in production since 9/15 with and estimated completion of 10/4. That got pushed to the 6th two days ago and as of right now it still hasn't moved. I was very optimistic of my November delivery date and hoping that'd stay true just so I wouldn't have to get my credit ran again. Not looking promising given the state of the chip shortages and all that have arisen this week.

That's awesome! Looks like I'm one step behind ya! I'm glad this forum exist for the simple fact that I know I'm not the only one that's experiencing all these emotions 🤣 Let's hope this early November expected delivery stays true!
