Does anyone know how many of this car BMW intends to produce for this model year?

The car "hit the streets" in November and I live in the Washington DC area, yet I have seen ZERO 2022 M240i's on the road. As a matter of fact, I've only seen three on a car carrier, and the one I got to test drive at the dealership 2 months after I ordered. Wondering how common it'll be seeing them around eventually or if it's limited enough to turn heads (or saturated in the market). I haven't seen ANY 2022 230i's anywhere…

i've seen 1 new 2 series.. driving in the opposite direction, and i saw a 230 at a dealership. But to be honest, i don't see to many older 2 series in the wild anyway.. so i doubt this car will ever a common sight in a world dominated by SUVs

BMW 2 series is low volume seller, I only run across even prior Generations now & then. One reason why I like the 2 series, not a taxi like the 3 series and even the 4 series Gran Coupe

What they intend to produce and what they actually can may well be two different things due to the chip shortage. I am sure actual production in 2021 was less than what was intended for most auto manufacturers. But to (not) answer your question, no i have not seen any numbers of what they intend to produce and am not sure they even publish that info. I

None are yet to land in the UK until Early March I've been told and hoping mine will be one of them.

But in terms of the previous Gen 2 series you never even see them on the road as it is, so personally I believe the new G42 will be a rare sight.

Most people in the UK tend to go for the M140I / M135I and even then not a great deal with them on the Actual road.

In the US BMW typically sells <2000 2 series a month, and that includes the Gran Coupe. It’s not a huge seller, even the much more expensive 5 series usually has higher volume. Mostly because 2 series is of course a less popular coupe and due to deals, incentives, and better residuals you can often get a 3 series at a similar price especially if leasing.

In normal times that's definitely the case. Now there's about $100-150/mo lease payment difference between an M240 and M340. The quote on my car is roughly $830/mo with $0 down, whereas a similarly equipped M340 was closer to $940/mo.

I live in north jersey and commute to Rockland County. The only one I've seen so far was at the dealership a week before I picked mine up. The other one they got in instantly went out.

Ive had a few people pull up and check it out though.

Obviously this is personal opinion. For me this car really doesn't have the wow factor to turn heads, regardless of "rarity". You can find the B58 for pretty much the same price in more aesthetically appealing bodies of the supra or Z4 if you can live without backseats. Even the OG M2 doesn't really get the attention it deserves unless someone really appreciates it, especially when it comes to comp and cs badges. Coming from an E89 Z4, i imagine I will get far less attention in the m240i. I personally was deciding between the supra, z4 and cayman before i found the 240i and ultimately awd and backseat storage outweighed the aesthetic appeal of the supra. I couldn't live with the soft top z4 after being in the e89. That being said, I have seen one 2 series since release and it was at the dealer, this could very well be because I just don't notice them when theyre around, but as long as youre happy with the car, it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks. Unless you run into another bmw lover you probably won't get the attention you're after, even then given the feedback on design with the internal crowd, the convo might not always be sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. Just my 2 cents.

As others have mentioned, we won't see many on the road as most BMW buyers will opt for the 3, 4, or 5 series. However, I think it can still turn heads since it will be a coupe in a sea of SUVs and large sedans. I believe the G42 has more road presence than the F22 too.
