SensaTec or leather for m240i?
What do you guys prefer? I'm trying to justify adding leather but its starting to break the bank.
Are you guys happy with the sensatec seats? |

I've got a '22 230i M sport with Vernasca leather seats. I'll say that they're OK, but not buttery soft like Merino leather option on some other BMW models. If I were looking to cut an option or two, leather would be first to get the boot, since the Sensatec seems like a nice material.

Very happy with the Sensatec seats. I did a bit of reading about it before buying the car, and the consensus seems to be that the newer version feels softer than before and of course will outlast leather.

When I built my G42, I had it in my mind that if I was going spend that kind of money, I was damn sure that I was going to get REAL leather. That's an attitude that I bet a lot of people have. I felt this way despite the fact I was getting my car in Thundernight Metallic; and felt that cognac was without question the color to get to compliment the outside paint (and I still feel that way). I opted for black vernasca leather, and I like it okay. Just okay. Now, I don't have any experience with sensatech, but from what I understand, it's actually pretty good. If you can't get the color you want in leather (and it's offered in sensatech) don't get the leather. The color is the most important thing.
And shame on BMW for not offering the G42 in cognac leather. My F22 had that with Estoril Blue and it was awesome. As I said before, it would have been even better as a compliment to purple. Black and Thundernight is alright, but a bit dark. More contrast would have been nicer, in my opinion. |

I have the black Sensatec and I really like it.
It's soft, comfortable, and looks great. The ONLY negative is that it gives your new car a synthetic smell instead of the new car smell for the first couple months. |

when going through my ordering process, i went through this same dilemma and the impression i got was the vernasca was not worth the upgrade charge over the sensatec. i had an e39 with dakota leather (i believe) and i think its pretty much the same as the vernasca so i knew i wouldnt be impressed with vernasca. comparing the sensatec on my m240i to my e39 dakota, i prefer the sensatec. feels more like leather lol.

My car hasn't even arrived yet, so my opinion isn't worth much, but:
I went in presuming I was going to get leather. I put my hands all over a bunch of leather and sensa at my dealer; could literally barely feel a difference, and certianly had no preference. I saw no reason to spend the cash. |

i have the leather and it's ok. it's red which i like, and cognac was my first choice, but long story short i couldn't do a custom build so i was fine going with red leather over cognac sensetac since they had a nice build on the lot. the leather in this feels way lower quality than what's in my audi

I went in thinking I was going to do black leather. But after seeing/feeling sensatec, I went ahead and pulled the trigger with the cognac seats. I've had no problems with sensatec so far.

Sensatec is definitely fine as I've had it in past cars and I think it's even better now. I wanted that contrasting blue stitching though so I went with the black leather.

I don't know if they finally changed this for 2024, but prior, you cannot get the adjustable seat width (bolsters) unless you get the leather interior. I would have gone with Cognac Sensatec, but I wasn't willing to give up the adjustable bolsters.

I chose Sensetac for my 2022 M240i, a great product. And my choice was based on all factors, including: comfort, durability, and quality. Sensetac is superior to the M240i leather offerings in all of these areas with the exception of aesthetics. Some people just gotta have leather, regardless of any other factors... And I understand that, but if you want a very comfortable, durable seat, that will look good for many years, etc... you will be the only vehicle occupant who knows that the material isn't leather, unless your passengers are already familiar with you seat fabric choice. BTW the only other non-leather seat fabric that's considered competitive with Senestac is the Nuluxe fabric from Lexus, which is an extremely good non-leather fabric. Good luck with your selection.

I sat in both before placing my order. Not that the Sensatec wasn't comfortable but I didn’t like the smooth more "slippery" feeling. |

You've already got a thread for this started. Probably best to continue the conversation there.
