Submitted my build, too (large dealership in SE USA, no allocations yet).

Went ZB/cognac and manual with all the tech features available. However, I do like using the smart cruise control (Bluecruise, I think?) that's in my Mach E. The remote start is also nice when the temperature is extreme. Neither of those features is available with manual.

But this is also probably the last gas car I'll ever own, so...

New to the group. How much are dealers charging as markups for the new m2? When you all place your deposits, how much are dealers asking for? Thanks in advance.

That’s the first pic i have seen showing the M colors on the dash trim that the MY23 M240i has.Didn’t BMW already confirm that the M2 wasn’t getting that option?

Those colors on the dash board is a mistake of the system. It comes without them

The BMW dealerships in California are probably under 20+ different ownerships. Each with different policies and different ways they conduct business. The easiest way to find out is to call around and ask.

Have you tried the three Centers owned by Sonic Automotive? Beverly Hills is also one of them, but I suspect you will not be very successful there? Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

MSRP w/5k deposit. My dealer requires 5k on "high demand" vehicles.

For those of you putting deposits down, have the dealers been telling you your place in line?

I am 4th at one dealer w/o deposit (Class B dealer), 7th at another w/ refundable deposit (Class B dealer), and 9th at another w/ refundable deposit (Class A dealer).

I am in Canada BTW.

Generally that is how it should work. We write what number the client is in line on a signed buyers order that goes into the client’s folder with a copy of their deposit receipt that their client advisor retains. Their current build specs are also placed into the order bank. It is not a difficult process.

Class A are higher volume and get more allocations. Might be a BMW Canada thing. Not sure about the US but would be safe to assume a similar system based on sales volume.

$5k for a car they don't even have an allocation for yet? Man, the dealership owner must have a REALLY big yacht payment to support.

IMHO, at this point in time, I think $500 is MORE than enough for a dealer to take as a deposit. All they're really doing is weeding out those who aren't serious buyers. If you're willing to scratch a check for $500, even though it's refundable, you're just some ham & egger that has no intention to buy. If there was no deposit, then people would be placing "orders" all over town. That's no bueno.

If I owned a dealership - I'd ask $500 to get into the order bank, then want another $2k when the allocation becomes available - paid by the end of the business day the following day after being notified that your spot has come up. No cash, you lose that spot and get your $500 back. And everyone else behind you moves up a notch. Seems more than fair to everyone. Be transparent about what's expected when taking that initial $500.

Yeah you hit it on the head, either you're serious about it or not. I'm not sitting here saying I'm rich, but cutting a 5k check that goes toward the price of the car probably shouldn't be a big deal for someone playing in this market.

I have no problems cutting a check for 5-10k that goes to the price of a car.

But there are some dealers out there that want 5-10k but wont tell you your place in line.

Heres a quote from a local dealer to me:

“There’s no set place in line it’s just a matter of when your order gets picked up from the order bank. I’m estimating at least about a 5-6 month wait”

And… that is a Center that you do not do business with.

Your odds are better at # 3. It is doubtful that BMW NA’s only Center will hit ten G87 allocations within 12 months.

If I was 3rd or 4th on a dealer's wait list is there a good chance I get a vehicle by the end of 2023? hypothetically of course
