So i don't expect the M2 to be lighter than that…last gen M2 was even around 100kg heavier than the m240i |

They could show a 5 second clip of a tire driving through a puddle and people will disect the ripple pattern to try and figure out the camber and whether it's a new tread pattern. This is a crap ad. That's it.

And yes, some are crossing over from M to P. Not the majority, but it's happening.

I'm one of them. I think the M2 Competition I sold is the last new BMW I will ever buy!

There is some truth to this.
Yep, after 35 years as a diehard BMW owner/enthusiast I purchased my first 911 eight months ago and I absolutely love it! Last edited by T_U_D; 05-27-2022 at 09:49 PM.. |

It's perplexing and tedious that folks here, ad nauseam, compares a mid-tier BMW to any model of Porsches. If anyone, including myself, who has the means to comfortable opt for an equivalent spec Porsche, wouldn't even sneeze at a BMW and that's not taking anything away from BMW as an automotive brand in general, just a sobering fact of life. It reminds me of the time I could of afforded a mansion on the hills but instead opted for a 12X9 roach motel in Alphabet City - 'cause you know, loyalty or whatever 🙄 Porsche and BMW is not on the same playing field, they are completely different caliber of vehicles, as Porsche is a vehicle you aspire to from a BMW, not one replace it with. So these folks making such outlandish comparisons need to stay in their lane.. |

What you get for BMW money is pretty good, especially a few years ago when an M2 was 52k MSRP to start. That was the enthusiast bargain of the century and unheard of in this day and age. Good times.. 🥹 A good looking RWD, manual, with a torque-vectoring e-LSD and pushing close to 400hp, with all the BMW amenities like four year free maintenance, brakes inclusive - sign me up! Price wise, lining up both models side by side is like comparing apples to Porsches. These tone-deaf folks need to take emotions out of the equation and look at the big picture. Perception is the key 🔑 |

I guess it's not meant to be and instead a 400 Z or manual Supra is in the stars for me.. If this is indeed the case, BMW obviously forget (or no longer cares) why the M2 was so inherently popular and the original core demographic it was suppose to be targeted to.. #Sad https://www.forbes.com/sites/markewi...laus-frohlich/ . |

I think Porsches are great but they're not for everyone. I personally know several people who have made "the leap" from M to P (M2/M2C to cayman gts, gt4, 997) and have come back to BMW after a year or two. When I asked some of them why, the responses I got were along the lines of: "Porsches are too serious, BMWs are more light hearted" or "I rarely drove it because nothing fit in it", or "that car was too stiff and I wanted something softer for a daily driver".
