Picture of cabin filter cover

Ever since last time I took my car to the dealer, there was a rattling under my hood, and it wouldn’t open on passenger side. I eventually got it open with a screwdriver, and the cover for my cabin filter was missing all four bolts. Also, there are clips in the bottom that don’t clip into anything. Then I got cancer, beat it, and now taking care of various problems. I just replaced fuse box and b+ cable. I’m thinking this is not the proper cover for 335d. I bought the correct bolts at BMW, and I hear it rattling again, which means the bolts popped out. Does anyone have a PICTURE of the cabin air filter? Does it have clips on the bottom that have nowhere to be clipped into? Thanks for your help.

Michael, a picture of your cowl cover would help us decide if you got slipped a mickey. I recall the standard E90 cowl is screwed directly to the air inlets using 4 self tapper screws. I have read where people turn those too hard and eventually strip the plastic. Over on the "mainstream" E90 area (where all the gasser people are), a guy sells a kit where you drill out the striped plastic threading and push in a brass boss that also has threading. From that point forward, you thread the screws into the brass bosses. I just keep being gentle on those threads. I will see if i can fish up that thread with the kit and post back here. Good luck

I forget if the thread goes thru the bottom or not

If not, stuff with broken toothpicks and screw in the screws

If thru, try tape and zipties or something

I wrapped the thread of the screw with hockey tape. then screw in. works great for the ones that were stripped.
