I noticed BMW removed the carbon fiber package from their web site (USA) when a user trys to 'build your own'. I wonder if it is still available?

I heard there was a shortage on the Carbon Pack. Seems like they’ve been having supply issues with the carbon buckets as they were removed from the M3 for a while but it seems like they just brought them back this month. Your CA may be able to add it even if it doesn’t show online. The BMWUSA website isn’t always up to date unfortunately.

Looks like you can still add the carbon pack but there is a blurb on the build summary page that states "Carbon Package will be available to order in late 2023. Consult your dealer for details." Sounds like it might not ba available until BMW catches up with production.

Asked about the carbon seats with my dealer today and he said you can still order them. Guess this makes sense for late 2023 as any order now will have a production date towards the end of the year.

But it is true on the configurator you can add carbon package, BUT it does not show the carbon seats in the interior pictures.

Also, not sure if Carbon seats is now back on the base M3s…

IIRC, just a few days ago the little drop down thingy "Availability Information" on the BMW build website stated that the Carbon package would not be available until March 2023.

I just ordered a week 42 build with the Carbon Package 10 days ago and was told that there were no restrictions.

And it was confirmed that some builds - mostly with the Carbon Package - scheduled for weeks 38-44 have been moved up 3-6 weeks.

So, I suspect that the current limited availability warning is to ensure that buyers don't submit an order for a car that cannot be fulfilled.

Does the parking assistant package include a 360 view camera? Or is the 360 view camera not an available option on the M2 period?

Thanks in advance

Not available. You need to "upgrade" to the M4. Parking assistance is done by ultrasonic sensors.

Unfortunately the parking assistant option seems like it’s just software that allows the car to steer into a spot for parallel parking. It’s essentially the OG park assist from the F chassis. When you consider that Parking Assistant is standard on the X1 and has Park Assist Plus as an option, the M2 is a bit lacking in that field.

I’ve always been of the mindset that I am better at parking on my own, but the extra cameras alone are worth the $800 to me. I’m curious why they didn’t have the option available since it is on the M240, but I’m trying to get the official reasoning from BMW when I have the chance.

Exactly, I would gladly pay the few hundred dollars for the 360 view if offered.

I am also very disappointed at the lack of the bird’s eye/overhead view that my M4 had. It’s kind of dubious that a car that starts at $63k doesn’t have it.

I just realized this and could be wrong of course, but this may be the only BMW in the USA that doesn’t have the 360 camera offered on it without it being due to a shortage(5 series, x3’s for a while, etc). Super odd for a M model.

I agree that it would be nice to have, but BMW is doing what it can to keep the base $ as low as they can without diluting the M driving experience.
But, yah, I agree it is a handy feature, I would pay extra for the cameras, myself.

I was hoping for 360 cameras to help from curbing a wheel myself. Went ahead and optioned it anyway. For $200 it seemed cheap enough to see what it can do. Maybe it will prove useful.

The 20 hp bump will come from a 48v hybrid battery in 2025 model year... this was confirmed by my rep today

I was asking what was the incentive from buying one now vs waiting

Also, is the waiting list for allocations that long? I asked my rep and I got one asap with no mark up

This sounds very unlikely.

X10000, if BMW wanted to add mild hybrid tech to the S58 they would have done so from the get go.

I know I'm sounding like a broken record as I already mentioned this in the other threads but I want to inform people as much as possible and to also see if any one has any new information on ordering with the carbon package for the seats in California. I placed a deposit for an m2 on 12/21 and they told me that they have to wait until after holidays to make sure the build gets accepted. Today 1/3 I got a call and they've told me that BMW is not accepting any new orders with the carbon package.

I was told this after waiting 5 months for my build to start. I stayed the course and said leave it in the order bank. My car arrives within the next 2 weeks
