IMHO the M2 is as hardcore as you can get in a car that retains a sane level of daily driving ability. people bitch about the weight, but thats what gives you some GT-like qualities like good noise insulation. I've done 5+ hour trips, ive thrown 150 lbs of sand in the back to go skiing, it goes to costco and runs 12s with minimal wife complaints- although she has a high tolerance for it after bearing with me on a series of coilover equipped tuner cars

I agree-hence the reason I ordered one. I will tell you, though, that the GT4 is in another class and has the absolute best manual tranny on the market today. I plan on keeping it for forever.

Ok. This is really cool that you and your son will both have M2's. Will there any competitions between the two of you at the track?

I really hope my older sort-of-car-enthusiast son (my younger son would rather build legos and cities in Minecraft which I absolutely love) continues to like cars and we still share that connection as he gets older. We've been to about 10+ car shows locally for the past few years, and we just hit up the Chicago auto show this past weekend to feed the passion.

Funny you mention your son and car shows. Mine is grown now but I took him to many car shows and C&Cs when he was younger. He came to me some time back and decided, for his first new car, he wanted to order an M240i. After thinking about it I said "why don't you just do an M2? I felt that the additional cost was not an insurmountable number and helped him with the cost difference. He's very happy with how it all turned out.

As far as the racetrack, maybe one day! He and I are both pretty conservative drivers and actually prefer street driving. But, I may get him to the track one of these days. It would be a good learning experience for him.

Perfect-keep us informed. As we’ve discussed extensively you and I should absolutely be on the same ship.

Yes, it will be nice! I've driven BMWs for decades, with the last one being an OG '18 M2. Drove it for 4 years/60K miles and loved every bit of it. But, in 2020 I went to the Porsche dark side and bought my first one - 718 GT4. Then, traded in the OG M2 on a 992 Carrera 4GTS. That 4GTS is gone now and am awaiting a '24 GTS that'll arrive stateside in May.

When my son started the order process on his G87 we got on the lists at 3 different Texas dealers. The one in his then hometown in West Texas came through first and he took delivery in September. What a series of cars! I think that GT4 is one of my favorite silhouettes on the road today...beautiful. I know it's not a great daily, and more can than I'll ever need, but we can all appreciate that car for sure. A neighbor has it and tracks it...very nice!

And as others have said, super cool to have this as a common interest with your son!

So...what are you going to do with the 3rd one?

There may be other ways, but I just called the Genius number and asked. They have that info.

The 911? Oh, it’s for when I want to drive really fast!

It’ll be for Fridays and special occasions.

LOL

That too!

But I was actually referring to your earlier post about having gotten on the list at 3 dealerships for the M2. Was wondering if you're still on the list for that 3rd one!

Oh, sorry, misunderstood. Third dealer is in my back yard and I have a great relationship with them. Same ownership group as my Porsche dealer. They reached out to me last fall and had an incoming order that the original buyer backed out on. They offered it to my son but he declined as it wasn’t quite his build spec, and his was literally 30 days out. Once I explained that we had his coming in thru another dealer they asked if we wanted to be removed from their waitlist. I said yes please. I actually had forgotten we were on the other DFW dealer wait list, until they contacted me in late December about this allocation. I’m serious when I said earlier that I had no intention of ordering a G87. But when it fell in my lap I couldn’t resist.

And to add to my saga, again, wasn’t planning to acquire a G87, but I saw RBR/Raz’s video of his delivery of his frozen portimao blue G87 he took delivery of last December and I was smitten. Literally a week or so later I was contacted by the dealer referenced above about an allocation. Fate, perhaps?

Not sure who the audience was with this question but I will answer anyways. My car came with the Mich PS4's. Another person local to me picked up a car around the same time (I think it came on the same boat shipment) and their car had the Pirelli P Zeros. It must just be what tires are sitting in stock when they complete that portion of the assembly?

Yeah, good question...I guess I never thought about WHY the cars were getting the different options.

I assumed it was batched -- so trending one or the other. Could be wrong.
