True story. I can easily get in & out of the M2 with the door at the first stop. It's not even close to the wall in my single garage or close to my other vehicles when parked in my main garage. My Corvette, on the other hand, I have to squeeze myself in and out of in the garage or next to other vehicles in standard parking spots.

Me and the family have been able to manage the giant doors and awkward door handle position just fine. The kids are well trained from the previous 2 door to not let it swing open and so on. The biggest issue I am having is shoes scuffing up the rockers getting out of the car. This is exactly why I added PPF to my rockers which I think makes it worse as scuffs seem to show up more prominently on the film. I had to do a 2 minute lecture to my kids yesterday showing them their shoe scuffs and asked them to be more careful. It's a tricky balance as I don't want to scare them out of liking cars but for the love please stop rubbing your shoes on it

Yeah, as others have mentioned, a problem with most 2-door cars. Not recent, as the old "personal luxury" cars of the 70's had doors you could probably drive a Miata through!
It is a trade off between opening and closing convenience and providing an easier route to the back seat. The Infiniti Q60 we had before the M2 was probably a little worse. Have to think long and hard a situation where I was able to open that door completely without something getting in the way! |

Smaller than you'd think. Try an 8 series or an RS5 Coupe.

At least the BMW rear end of the door is curved. The mk7 came to a sharp point that would dig into grass, mulch, or whatever else you were alongside.

Good question. I have a to-do to bring my car back to the PPF shop to help remove a bubble I found under the front lip when installing a license plate bracket. I plan to ask the place what they recommend for the scuffs and really hoping they will physically show me by repairing it.

The PPF is self-healing. I just tried a hairdryer and no luck. Looking closer it looks like it's a material transfer from shoes onto the PPF. The Xpel car website says you can use (very carefully, avoiding the car's clean and paint) isopropyl alcohol to remove material and stains.

With the window down is easier to get out of the car and then close it using the key button to close the window afterwards
