Can't read codes when I plug in my head unit?
Cannot communicate to ECU when I plug in iDrive unit for some reason with Ista or using MHD to pull codes won't work I keep getting "no communication with ECU" and when I completely disconnect the iDrive unit it DOES allow me to connect and read codes. Also on the back of the iDrive unit for some reason I'm missing an orange cable that connects to that orange connector? Any ideas?
Here are the codes when the iDrive unit is out. I'm having another electrical issue as well. Any input on those other codes? Just to note, the iDrive unit works fine when I plug it back in I get sound the screen/navigation works and all. |

Can Bus chips could be blown out on the Head Unit Locking
the Bus when its plugged in . Or something in the Head Unit is causing it to Lock the Bus. About the only thing you can do to isolate the problem is try another Head Unit or Verify the head unit in another vehicle. Or send the Head unit to someone that repairs them for verification. Then there are are more basic checks like does your coding setup work on another car and is the battery voltage OK with the head unit plugged in . No bent pins on the head unit or head unit connectors. |

Can you clarify your first post a bit.
1. What is the other electrical issue? 2. You cannot connect to the car at all with ISTA D with CIC plugged in? Any other strange things the car is doing? |

Are the daten files in ista uptodate or at least at the I level the car
is currently programmed for ? The fact that it works but gives you so many errors suggest it might be software revisions. As always is the battery good and fully charged? You need some of the more expert software guys to look at hardware and software versions installed through Inpa or winkfp. |

The car does recognize the key i guess because it allows me to turn the car on?? So when i put it in the key fob i can use the car like normal. 2. Correct. With CIC plugged in I cannot read codes/communicate with ECU. When I unplug it it does allow me to read codes. |

I know its not the cable or software since it allows me to read the codes and communicate with the ECU when the CIC is unplugged. It also works with my brothers car and I've used Ista on other cars as well.

When you say the above does it mean that it does not allow you to communicate with any module or just the CIC. If its locking up all communication then it could be a hardware problem . You are going to have to isolate something and without a known good working CIC or someway to verify your current one you are stuck as far as I can see. The stuff about the key might mean there is something wrong with the CAS. |

It does not allow me to communicate with the any module. Ista/D says something like "cannot communicate with ECU" or "no communication with ECU" i tried using the MHD application as well on my android to read codes and its the same thing says "no communication with ECU"
