Can run-flats be repaired?

I'm getting ready to order a 330 and the other day I had a really low tire on my current car (Lexus ES300). I just went across the street from where I was to a Discount Tire who fixed the problem for free even though I didn't get the tires from them.

This got me thinking about the run-flats. As far as I understand the run-flats are no different than a standard tire other than the reinforced sidewalls to support the tire when it is flat. Can run-flat tires be repaired in the same way as a conventional tire?
