Honestly, looking at this, I don't know if I hate the stack on screen more or the no-shiftstick-design more 😂

Not a fan, but I guess over time I'll get used to it...

Glad my G23 is a 2022, but not so sure about resale value down the road a few years.

Retrofit shifters will totally be a thing. The aftermarket will have fun with this.

I didn’t think about resale. You think that would affect the value?

I think having the 'old' dash will likely have a little lower resale versus the same car with the LCI/ID8 dash.

Just makes it obvious to potential buyers that it's a year older.

All exterior colors are the same still, wondering if we’ll get new options for MY2023 ?

I like the new screen, not the Golf shifter..

I was thinking (hoping) this as well. It almost wouldn't make sense if the 2er did NOT come with the extra lighting since they would have to produce different parts without the lighting

BMW has gone for universality across its range. That's only bad because form and probably cost cutting has become more important than function. Even today, it's hard to operate the console buttons including the start/stop and climate control chicklets. It still requires looking at them, but at least they are 100% available and not buried in screen menus.

Cool, a RWD option is a good start towards performance orientation..

If only they surprise us with a manual option for the LCI, I would genuinely be all in on a purple M240i 😗

But at this juncture, that's obviously wishful thinking..

The car came out late last year, yet they're already giving it iDrive 8. At least address the controversial parts of the car, like bumpers and all that..

The lack of shifter is a far bigger issue to me than the screen

I remember driving a 1996 328i Sport for the first time when I was 17 and thinking how sublime it felt. (This was 1998). Such direct steering and "magic feel". Never in a million years did I think back then BMWs would become so bland. Now you have to get an M series car to get the feeling but it's still very computerized by comparison to what I described before. And now, there's no getting away from this craptastic interior.

So excited for this update!! My 240i build was ordered in April but wasn't able to get scheduled for the MY22 production, the delay is now well worth it with new technology 😍🙌🏾

I wasn't sure about it but after seeing it in person on the i4 and at night I like it.

First it was the bonnet, then removal of door locks from center console, then FWD, then 4-cyl engines, forced induction on M cars (this is one I can tolerate), now we get no buttons and no shifter.

Do you know what the "Ultimate Driving Machine" means when you cant even grab a shifter? No thanks.

What's the issue with losing the "shifter" on an auto? Not being sarcastic or anything, but this just moves you from park to drive to reverse, right?
