reason I started this thread is to assure Max/RB fans that I am 100% that Max has won the WDC, McLaren declares they will let Oscar in with an equal chance to fight Lando in the remaining 9 races.

Maybe add the link to the schedule?
It contains the full program adjusted for the timezone you're in (if location services are permitted) Regarding the not favouring NOR....I'm gonna wait and see... If no teamorders will be given..Brown will rise in my estimation for sure! Last edited by GuidoK; 08-26-2024 at 04:50 PM.. |

It's very simple, the goal in F1 is to win the constructors championship, period - that is the ultimate team goal. You can still win constructors even if you favor one driver, but it's a lot less likely for a driver to win the drivers championship if you're only focusing on constructors and playing the "team game". McLaren is in a highly favorable position where they could potentially win both championships, so to come out with that statement and with the decisions they have made this season is starting to make me think that they don't have that next level mentality that Red Bull and Mercedes have. It's actually quite disappointing when everything is mostly in their favor. |

McLaren know there’s a snowball’s chance in hell of Norris winning the WDC. But then, what if he does by 1/2 point ? Daft stance IMO.
Predictions: NOR, PIA, HAM. |

Absolutely.
Also, I can't imagine that there isn't some clause in drivers contracts that if there's a real possibility on a WDC of the other driver (or that it is in danger), teamorders can be given to a driver to favour that WDC. We've seen it on multiple occasions with Mercedes and RB, and in distant pasts with other teams. WDC is the big prize. I've heard that in sponsorcontracts, sponsors have to pay extra bonus if the wdc is achieved

Nor can I, but then, we’ve seen teams pulling massively daft moves. When Mercedes were running away in 2014, and Ricciardo was the better driver with a slim chance of getting in the mix, Red Bull favoured Vettel. Go figure. This season is McLaren’s best shot at the WDC (and WCC) since 2012. I wouldn’t be surprised if they muck it up.

BTW : After the Zandvoort race , Alonso was on his knees looking for a long time under Lando's car . There's something very special about the McLaren bullet car ... Alonso checks out the McLaren car => https://www.youtube.com/shorts/lGm4TEx-J7c

Has Newey been secretly badgering at Woking
Seriously it looks like it but as far as predictions go it does look like a Laren walkover with MAX 3rd I'd say. |

I feel like something weird will happen on Sunday, perhaps Lando and Max tripping over each other at turn 1, with Lando getting the worse of it. Perhaps the weird thing will be Checo actually having a decent race or the RB having good balance and pace. Mercedes will struggle in hot conditions and a resurfaced track, which cause them to overheat their tires.

My thoughts - Mclaren and Merc will be fast. RB will not have the straight line pace. Checo continues his place as worst of the best, sadly.

I think if Ferrari could find half a teddy in the bag and put a show on for the tifosi after all it is their home track.

Sargent out!
Another under experienced F2 driver to replace him. Great. I heard rumors they were looking at Lawson, which probably would have been a better bet, but guessing either RB didn't want to, or wanted too much money for him. |

It would've been a bit irrational for RB to loan Lawson to Williams for Constructors' standings reasons. Williams is very unlikely to leap past RB but still, they wouldn't want to help a team outside the Red Bull/RB organization. I think Lawson is excellent and he will get his shot soon. |
