Celtic Tuning remap?

Hi,
Has anyone had a Celtic tuning remap recently?
I know they had some bad reviews from previous years but a lot of google searching hasn't had anything up in the last few years.

The thing is, their main place is only 40mins from me, so easy to get adjustments later in life such as EGR or DPF or any issues.

I'm down in Cornwall so Emaps is about a 12hr round drive sadly plus the map time.

It's for an N57 diesel with 60k on the clock.

Cheers
Andy

I had my DPF delete and remap at Avon Tuning in Bristol. Not too far from you and they have a good rep.

I have no personal experience but they're claimed figures are around 10% too high.

Yeah they claim 340 which must have been a fluke on a car lol I'd be happy with around 300 give or take 10 ish
They have a dyno there which is good. Maybe ask for discount if I don't get the quoted figure lol

Cheers I'll look at that place, I'm in darkest cornwall, Exeter is about 2.5 hrs away

I've just had a look at their graph on the N57.

They claim 265.7bhp and 396lb/ft stock which is 10% and 3% too high respectively.

Taking these percentages off of the final figures they come out at 301bhp and 460lb/ft which is much more realistic.

My 330d was dynod on a hub dyno so the figures are difficult to translate to roller dyno figures.

Looking at the delta, I gained 66 wheel horsepower and 60 wheel torque. Applying these to stock figures; the car's running around 308bhp & 444lb/ft.

I think the dyno is more a before and after tool. Respective of what it says numbers wise it'll show the increase. Which is handy
Dynos vary so wildly depending on setup.

howardcornwall do BMW remapping. I've used him before for other cars/ jobs and was pleased with the service. Will be looking to take my car there when needed (hopefully not too often!)

There is a place near Penzance too - KernowTuning - which do BMWs.

Finally, there is JMW in Grampound. 2 brothers (ex-Ocean, Falmouth) who I've used previously and was pleased with. They offered remapping, but I never got around to doing it.

Where about in Kernow are you?

Quantum tuning are worth considering, they have franchises nationwide some of which are mobile.
I believe Birds bmw use quantum for there mapping.

Have covered 20k since having a quantum map on my 335i with no related issues & am very happy with the results. 45bhp increase & 500nm torques

Quantum Tuning have a place by Bodmin, just by the A30/A38 junction.

Howards isn't too far from Helston. My E91 is still under BMW Warranty, but I will probably take it there after. I want to get the mirrors recoded to fold when i lock the doors, and the website says they recode too.

I had a Leon TDI (PD150) mapped by Celtic a few years ago - I felt their map was quite aggressive so while it felt good and the car was RAPID compared to other PD150s, my clutch gave way more or less straight away so had to have that uprated and then it did the same again about 20k later. Just from that I wouldn't use them again but that was a few years ago...

I keep thinking about a map, but my E91 330D is on 66k now, it's a manual & I really don't think the clutch will like it.

These cars have a massive whack of torque as they are, do you really need to map it?

I'd suggest making things lighter, benefits everything!

i got the Auto so not too worried on that side of things.

i know how you feel on the clutch, maybe wait till you replace it for a map?

hmmmmmm well no not really BUT more power is always nice.... just knowing it can be reliably done is playing in my mind!

i took my classic beetle from 34bhp to 150bhp, kind of a hobby (power increase)

interesting feedback thanks

i do find the PD engines pretty hard hitting come 2k rpm though, probably just made that worse i guess? i guess if it was smoother you wouldn't get the numbers

Oh you currently have one, nice
I bought mine back in 1987 for £250. It had a fibreglass 911 wideboy turbo kit on it & was stuck in first gear.
I spent 18 months & £3500 restoring it & kept until 92. Sold it for 4K
Excuse the poor quality pics, they were taken in the 80s
