Combox in the car but no bluetooth
Hi there, i have an e91 2012 with a combox in it and im wondering if its possible to get bluetooth on it, as of right now im unsure if it actually supports it or not but i can't see any bluetooth options in the car unless i go into the service menu.
606 Navigation System Business 620 Voice Input System 698 Area-code 2 6FL Usb-/audio Interface 6UH Traffic Information 6VC Control Combox 7KD Navigation Business This is what i found when decoding my vin that seems to be related to the cic and i drive. If anyone could help me get bluetooth audio in my car that would be much appreciated Also if this is the wrong place to post this please let me know so i can post it in the right spot Last edited by Naitsirk1997; 02-21-2022 at 10:59 AM.. I can check what model it is when I get home, but I also heard from someone that I might need to update the cic, which I have no idea where to get cause the bmw update site just throws me an error when I input my vin

In the iDrive menu can you see Bluetooth Devices under Multimedia?

If you have a combox from the factory then it must be possible. When I retrofitted combox to my car I changed the radio preparation type in my VO while troubleshooting. This would enable the Bluetooth multimedia menu even without my combox connected to the MOST config, so you might try that. Off the top of my head I believe it was one of the $6xx VO codes.

Just look at combox retrofit tutorials. They will all address changing the VO. There are 3 different radio configs that you can try, and none of them will hurt to try.
It's been 2 years since I last messed with it and I'm quite busy at the moment unfortunately so I don't remember specifics. I may be able to get on later and look but like I said I have a lot going on. |

My brothers car had a similar situation; 09 with MULF but no bluetooth.
I grabbed the antenna+wiring and the mic wiring from a pick n pull car and just wired it in. His car is non-nav(with nav your have voice input so mic wiring will be there). From that just code the vo to bluetooth then update the radio and voila Last edited by neilvan; 03-15-2022 at 08:40 AM.. |

same in my car, combox has no bluetooth :/
I am very knowledgeable about this. Which antenna should I buy? Which cable and which program is required for coding? So many questions in my mind Is the attached bluetooth antenna suitable? |

the blue plug on the bmw stuff is usually always the gps antenna signal. because some cars have the gps antenna plug into the combox, like mine, and the usb, gps, bluetooth phone, bluetooth audio, and all the song info like title, singer, album art, etc over the Fiber Optic cables to the CIC Headunit. NBT has everything plugged in the back and normal newer things like a built in bluetooth antenna and no need for any external modules like a combox on the newer NBT's which is a major advantage for retrofitting. But as far as a i remember that will work but you might have to shave the locator tab off the connector bc the stock Bluetooth Cable is the standard purple color. I believe there's actually a Euro Car color code for these cables. that is the correct style end and the right idea. however you might even have a bluetooth antenna if you have the phone prep package or the bluetooth phone calling option or voice guidance option already.. google combox retrofit VO coding and basically add any of the missing features from your car's current option list and only delete something from the VO list if there's a newer/upgraded option being added. |

What happened? Did you manage to activate bluetooth. I am in a similar situation, I have bn2000 but no mic interface and bluetooth antenna. I would like to code bluetooth. I will try to code this weekend when I get my car from the shop. How should i proceed?
What should be my first step? What do you all suggest? |

their connector is bluegreen - this is universal coded connector, it compatible with combox beige bluetooth connector

Hey guys!
I have recently bought a 2010 20D e90 with business navigation only with aux, and a cd player. It has the smaller display. I really want to add bluetooth/ipod connection. Do i need to buy a combox for this and fit in the trunk and also do the coding with NCS? Or is it already fitted and I just need to code the car? How do I know if it can do Bluetooth? Thanks for the replies guys! |

if you want a bluetooth streaming AND bluetooth calling and ipod connection via usb - you need combox
if you want only bluetooth calling and ipod connection via usb, you can consider mulf2high or combox, mulf2high is bit cheaper you need module, wiring and coding of the module AND headunit to enable these functions

Thank you for your fast reply!
Well, i would like get both of them (Bluetooth calling/music, Ipod) I'm gonna check the trunk, so I can see what I have there. Gonna try to look for combox here in Hungary. What headunit do you mean though? I have the little CIC Business Nav. Also, what coding do I need to do? Thank you! |

there is a special section on this forum about coding, you can dig in topics in it
i can sell you wiring kit to retrofit combox with bluetooth functions ( without USB cables) the module you can source on ebay the headunit which needs coding is CIC MID and combox itself
