E91 Tailgate Opening by itself

Hi guys,

I've tried searching for previous posts but couldn't find anything so was looking for a bit of info...

I have a fault on the tailgate on my pre-lci e91.

I find that when I unlock the car using the key fob the glass section of the tailgate pops open. When I shut it over it pops open again. This can happen a number of times before it will stay closed.

I also cannot open the full tailgate after this happens (I require the key fob to open the boot).

This is quite a spurious problem and can for a number of days without happening. I can access the boot from the tailgate handle with no problems.

I have also noticed that the clock has rest itself whilst this has been happening (not always however) and the other morning when I unlocked the car and got in I had an 'increased battery discharge' fault on the control messages section of the computer.

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Lewis.

Suggest that you check the wiring loom between the car body and the tailgate.

It might be as simple as your battery is at the end of its life.

The thread above was useful to me when I had a similar issue.

My issue was:
"e91 boot hatch UN locking issues"

but with clock and trip mileage resets too.

So I link to my thread in case it's useful to anyone else:

I included all threads I read.

Chewits- I have all the same problems. What was your fix?

-boot lid pops open uncontrollably (other than when the car is locked)

-increase battery discharge (new battery)

-clock resets

Thanks!
