Currently using the Quest 2, and I'm loving it! Not using wires has been much better with the wires. I've used the Rift S and the Quest 2, and I much prefer the Quest 2.

I've got a Vive Cosmos. While I like the headset for most VR gaming, the FoV and sweet spot are too narrow. The need to turn my head to see the periphery for sim racing bothers me and I just bought a G9 monitor. Much happier with the G9. While the immersion was great with the Cosmos, I'm faster and a cleaner racer with the G9. And I can grab my beer without spilling it!
Still there's nothing like the Laguna Seca corkscrew in VR (except real life of course) and I'll still use the headset for non competitive lapping for that experience. |

Quest 2 both in stand alone games and steam VR wireless. Was going to get the G2 but the Quest was a better compromise considering my family likes to play games as well.

I've got a Valve Index w controllers for "stand up" games. Love it.
I've got a Pimax 5k for racing games. The field of view os a massive improvement for racing games, but the headset itself and the software could be better quality. I've tried a first gene oculus, a PSVR, and a first gen Vive. The Index is the best one I've tried and it's controllers are much better than any other I tried. That said, the latest from Oculus and Vive are apparently really good. |

Started with Oculus Rift, currently using a Quest 2 - an excellent headset.
I've also used the Quest 1 which works quite well teathered, standalone the processing power is too low. Also used a Vive Pro with wireless which works fine but the signal is not alway 100% when you're using it room scale. I prefer the Quest 2 for easy of use plus it's suprisingly capable standalone.

why do you regret getting the Rift S? This is what I have and I like it but have nothing to compare to since I haven't tried any other VR. I also don't understand wire vs wireless. I don't even notice the wire. If I was standing up and playing some other game I can see the wire being a problem but sitting in the cockpit I dont notice it is there.

I've owned the original Rift, then the Rift S, and now I have the HP Reverb G2.
Not great FOV, but phenomenal resolution! I use mostly seated sim games (DCS, FlightSimulator 2020, Project Cars 2, etc.) so don't really need the controllers which lack behind Rift & Vive in terms of tracking. |

Pimax 8K+ for racing. Can't beat the FOV but the image isn't the best. It's not a plug and play headset as I had to do finagle the lenses with ipd and the software to get a somewhat decent image. Different set of eyes might have a better experience with it but I've made due and it's better visually than the Rift I started and no screen door effect. FOV is just too valuable to complain about the text on the sides being a little blurry.

HP Reverb G2, for driving sims, and flight sims.
Amazing graphics for the price. Need a good video card to get decent frame rates. For other casual VR gaming, Oculus Quest 2, and use the wireless connection to my PC, when I want to play Steam VR games, free of tethering wires. |
