I wanna see follow up posts from all the people who are going to spend an extra $20,000 on an M4 just to get a brown interior.

I seriously am going to laugh my ass off when a replacement color for Cognac just suddenly shows up like individual just did

Maybe BMW will get smart and just make the door panels black like they just did on the Z4 6speed save a few bucks at the same time hint hint…

I don’t mind the cognac, but the door panels look stupid with cognac only on that boomerang shaped thing

And the triangle shaped impressions on the door panel itself… I hope they remove those on the LCI

I'm sure everyone here is a 160+ IQ MENSA member but do you guys really think a huge corporation can't do the basic math to recognize the M2 and M3/4 are very rarely cross shopped new (when BMW makes their money)?

So I don't understand why M2 guys are salty about how the M3/4 looks asking for sales figures or why some complain about the lack of optional features.
C’mon pickle, I’m glad you’re back, but you used to be more clever before

In the same post you say all have 160+ IQ and that someone is free to claim sales figures without possessing them, making a jump to say asking for figures and stats is “being salty”. Too emotional man… just look at the words, they don’t convey what you’re implying. I suspect it applies to most posts you are reading here on this forum, but you distort their meaning because you take a passionate look at them.

How’s the 330i? Did you make a jump to the M2 yet? I know it was your dream car (as it was mine). Hope you got on the saddle. Cheers

I have to admit that I'm not a fan of the contrast on the door panels. It was the only thing that gave me pause on the cognac interior. With the M Color light inserts too it clashes pretty hard. It is what it is though. I'm used to it now.

I otherwise LOVE my cognac interior paired with the black exterior. Just put some Motorsport Gold Apex (summer set) wheels on it that I think work well with the 'tan' interior.

I'm shocked to see this post speculating that the cognac is being dropped. I never considered that my car might be a somewhat rare offering. My understanding is that you previously could only get a black interior on the M2 (F87) and now it was only offered for 2 years on the G87.

My personal feeling is it lends to a bit more of the mini 'GT' road car vibe vs the more 'sporty' black with M Color highlights. I personally don't care much for that blue stitching option. I wouldn't mind if they dropped that.

Agreed with the Blue stiching

I’ve had it on F87 and I don’t need it again

As of a year ago, BMW has already made more G8x than the entire F8x run and there’s still 3 more years of G8x.

I cancelled the M2 order I had and spent about that much more to get an uglier car with a black interior but a WBS vin.

I would think red interior would be the most logical option given the exterior color palate.

Congrats. Do you want a medal because your car was assembled in Germany, as opposed to BMW newest, state of the art plant that uses the same parts the German factories use on M cars?

Yea, that'd be cool. I can put it on display right next to the space I'm saving for the best German tequila award.

The majority of BMWs sold in FY23 were manufactured outside of Germany. You better have a big shelf for the other 16 countries that host BMW Group Manufacturing Plants.

Yes, and only a minority of parts of German built cars are now made in Germany, according to BMW investor related material, only 43% of parts suppliers are headquartered in Germany and most are multinationals that don't manufacture parts in Germany anymore, anyway.

Large suppliers like Bosch and Mahle manufacture a lot of parts in China, Vietnam, Mexico, etc. for build into the German assembled cars, as well as any other BMW manufacturing plant in the world.

Yup, and if I were in the market for any of them, I'd gladly buy one...with the exception of an M car. It's a personal problem, but for me an M car built outside of Germany is a no - especially not the car that is supposed to be closest to the original M3. YMMV.

And BMW Group would laugh at you since all their facilities are operating at the same standards, as they've stated time and time again for decades.

The SLP manufactured BMWs have the highest quality fit and finish due to the newest plant equipment, I will take M-car quality over country of manufacture.

I prefer the standard seats with the blue stiching with the small m highlights

I just wish they had white stiching not blue

You’re right, respect to robopp for posting something to support your claims, on your behalf.

These aren’t sales figures, and BMW doesn’t share those, but we can appreciate the work the figure nerds did in crunching the numbers to compare production worldwide (which unfortunately doesn’t paint the picture for local markets as we wish).

Unfortunately for you, because these are worldwide numbers, they also support the original claims that the new G8X face was designed to appeal to China, and it seems like it might be true. So, again, without sales figures per market, we don’t know if people everywhere are buying these cars more “because” of how it looks.

What’s true is that, despite of how it looks, it’s a pretty compelling car and probably the Best Buy in the segment, for all it is.

A multi-billion dollar corporation like BMW which produces millions of vehicles globally each year isn't going to lower their standards producing vehicles in different regions. I remember the same reluctance when BMW opened up their Spartanburg plant and now it doesn't even come up anymore in discussions. SLP is just the latest example of this, but it too shall pass.

Yes for Europe, the Mexican built BMWs end up with a German VIN. The plant of manufacture is the 11th digit, "8" meaning the SLP plant in Mexico.
