Juice Box Stage 3 ?
Hey Terry are you planning a stage 3 of your tune in the near future or are there no plans yet?
If you are, can you maybe give me some hp/tq estimates or infact any info you can give me will be great and appreciated. ![]() |

I think the R switch with the "hot pill" is about as far as it's going to go.

I did a lot of mixed driving, with casual & spirited driving in Drive & DS mode. I can feel the increase in power throughout the RPM range and just like after the JBS2 install, the drivability with the Juice Box Hot Pill is factory smooth and no CEL's. According to my boost gauge, boost was right around 12psi. My impressions so far are: Having the .5psi 93 octane "Hot Pill" just added more of a good thing, Kind of reminds me of the power increase I got in my NA G35 when I added a cold air intake and High Flow Cats at a cost of around $900.00, the butt dyno Can feel it! I couldn't wait to get my hands on some high octane gas for the "R" Switch so Late this afternoon I managed to met up with a guy from VP Racing Fuels that lives in my area (www.vpracingfuels.com) and brought home a 5 gallon container of their MS109 to try out. I figured with the Higher octane racing fuel, 105 versus 100 octane, I could get to the higher target octane(for the "R" Switch) while adding less fuel. After using the petroleum industries formula for pump gas octane, which is R+M/2, the VP Racing MS109 works out to be 105 octane. I already had a half tank of 93 (8 gallons), so I used this formula... Calculating Octane Content... .......8(gal)x 93(oct)= 744 2&1/2(gal)x105(oct)=262.5 ...........................=1,006.5 divided by 10 &1/2 (#of total Gallons) = 95.8 octane. After pouring the VP Fuel in I reached under the hood and flipped the "R" Switch. Then after riding around for awhile to bring the engine up to temp and give the gas time to mix together I did a few runs. It looks like I’m getting 14-14.5 psi. It’s kind of hard to tell though, watching the road become a blur and glancing over at the boost gauge all happens So Fast! It reaches boost so fast if your not looking at the guage at the right moment you’ll miss seeing maximum boost. All I can say is, I can’t wait to take it to the track! IMHO I think having this high octane switch is a great alternative to having your engine pushing a high 14.5-15 psi all the time. You have the best of both worlds. A conservative, yet strong running 12 psi (w/the Pill) for everyday driving & 14.5-15psi at the flip of a switch for Track days or just Getting Crazy! ![]() Terry, I’ll do some more runs this weekend & email you with the particulars... Where’s my G-Timer! ![]() ![]() ![]() JBS2 "R" Switch Location, passenger side next to the hood damper(it's not as close to it as it looks)

It's a small device that plugs inline between your JBS2 and the ECU giving you .5 more psi for around 12psi of boost instead of 11.5psi.
Terry figured he had more headroom in the boost dept if you're running 93 octane or 91 octane with down pipes. I believe he said it may be available in a few weeks.

You Need It!
I'm sure it'll be reasonably priced like the rest of the Juice-Box product line...

The cost isn't going to be in terms of dollars, its more in terms of hassle. For example the JB2 is 100% hassle free. Just throw it on, and forget about it.
With the H pill you will have to be more careful with what gas you run, and you could run in to limp codes if the weather is too hot, your altitude too high, etc. In some ares you might need to remove it for summer and reinstall during the winter. So far not a single beta tester has thrown a limp but more testing is needed, I know the potential for one is there. But in terms of actual dollars, $10 shipped. |
