DIY tool kit
Can anyone tell me the best tool kit maximum £150 for car use?
I have found 2: Halfrauds advanced professional 200 piece: And this one: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...C=Mob2MainSite I'm not even sure i need that many tools. Perhaps i can get away with the Halfrauds 120 piece? But i don't want to buy another set again in the future if i start using it more often. I would like to have all the tools in one box! |

the Halfords kit is good (although not as good as it used to be), but its only sockets and spanners, no pliers etc of the Clarke kit.
that being said, im not sure the Clarke kit will be in the same ball park when it comes to quality of the tools, halfords advance are pretty good in this regard. you could go for the 170pc halfords set, then get yourself a set of pliers/snips/molegrips with the saving: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_255215 |

I'd go for the halfords kit mate, I've had halfords professional stuff for years and it gets daily abuse. Halfords side cutters and and pliers are spot on but I wouldn't buy halfords mole grips because they don't seem to grip as well as some others, for them I'd go stanley

Do you think the quality would matter that much? I certainly won't be using it daily, just for servicing 3 cars at home.
The clarke kit has everything in one box, and i'm really a messy guy so that would help me keep them organised? |

Yeah I know what you mean, clarke make some good gear but the ratchets aren't as good quality as the halfords one, have a play with both and you will see what I mean. Plus the halfords sets have a lifetime guarantee 😎

my halfrods kit has been going 10 years now!!!! the mini ratchet which gets most abuse may need replacing, but everything else is spot on.

Halford kit is good. I got one but they are missing some key sizes eg...the is no 1/2" 18mm socket?! Or a 7mm allen key socket. The sizes jump around a bit...which is my only gripe

I think halfords is the way to go, as much as that just sounds wrong.

I just want a goid set of tools with everything i'll need in one box. Seems like the 150pc halfords kit is the way to go. A lower pc kit will be missing sizes as gaza says. Quality must be good if you guys are saying it ![]() |

Wow! Just seen the 200pcs one. Wish i got that. Don't know why i didnt
All the sockets etc that were missing from mine that i needed for swapping out my suspension and doing brake discs and pad are in the 200pc one so definitely get that! Quality really is good so its a win win! |
