INPA Error E1C4
Read error memory today using INPA, and have a fault that won't clear:
Add Gen. Name Error Code Kind of Error 63 Mask/CCC E1C4 60 Scanned with Bavarian Technic, same error, but associates it with Professional Radio. Car is Oct 2011 build E90 M3. Funny, this car has CIC, not CCC. Only thing retrofitted associated with head unit is Bimmer Retrofit Rear View Camera, which has been installed for some months. Everything is working perfectly. Haven't scanned since it was retrofitted until now. Any ideas what error E1C4 60 is? Searched and can't find anything on it. |

For info, E1C4 is a K-Can line fault. The fault is logged if the head unit can no longer transmit data on the CAN bus. This can be due to either CAN high or CAN low open circuit; short circuit to supply, ground, battery or together as stated in ISTA-D.
In my case I added an aftermarket rear view camera connected at the CIC. This is not a real error, but the due to the way ISTA-D detects and determines the additional module on the CAN bus that is installed. Since the module is operating on the CAN bus it cannot be transparent. In ISTA-D there is no additional field to show that there is some extra device ‘X’ connected, thus it thinks that there is some issue with the CAN bus. In reality there are no issues with the CAN bus despite it showing that there is an error in K-CAN line communication. This is only caused by the fact that BMW diagnostic software cannot determine the type of module installed. Not sure if this is unique to the RVC brand I installed, or all aftermarket ones. RVC integrates with Idrive & everything in CIC works perfectly in my case. |

I have a very similar code; E1CF 20 after retrofitting a Combox.
Is this due to the fact that the car doesn't think that the module should be there? Would adding this to the VO change this? |

Just an update on this; I managed to clear the error a couple of months ago and it hasn't returned.
After installing Rheingold; I ran the "Update MOST configuration" function which appears to have resolved the issue. |

Hello Len_Beach, Can you please tell me how did you perform a ''most configuration update'' in ISTA? I'm not able to do same. Many thanks in advance.
