Potential of 335xi?
What is the potential of the engine in the 335? I know the turbos are pretty small, but what are you guys seeing out of the stock motor with basic mods? What kind of power can be safely achieved on pump gas (93 Octane) without reducing the life of the engine, or blowing it up?
Also, what kind of 1/4 mile times are people seeing on both stock 335's and ones w/ basic mods? Thx! |

In cool weather, that combo gets me 12.8x @ 110.00+MPH. Flick my octane switch, and I am getting around 12.6x @ 113mph+. With more serious mods, the cars have run 11.9-12.2 in the qtr mile at around 117mph. That is still on stock motors, turbos, exhaust manifolds, injectors, fuel pump, etc. Sure the Cobras can easily be made silly fast, but for hardly doing anything at all, the 335i wil run in the 12's. Pretty remarkable. 0-60 in about 4.4 seconds, (as quick as a Cobra). |

I run the JB2R system also and am quite happy with the performance, the only time I've run any numbers 0-60 was the first night installed...in the rain with DTC "on" I saw 4.6 seconds with two people onboard and a full tank of gas...didn't run it again, was happy enough with what I saw. Performance is incredible and that was without the "R" switched on as I have not run the race fuel mix yet. The car is a blast all the way around and I wouldn't miss out on the xDrive as it is crazy handling in all situations...not just snow.

New members on the site, new mods, more experience, more track time, are coming up every day, why not let those people post up and give their input. You obviously knew what the thread was about when you saw the title, and you still clicked on it just so you could post up with your "look at me, I'm on the "innernet" and can be a douche to someone new asking a question. And yes ndahbar, I'm asking for myself. I'm thinking about dropping my Cobra and my daily driver and picking up a 335xi. Still trying to make up my mind, and will probably wait until after winter before pulling the trigger. Just figured I would start doing some research so I know what I'm getting myself into and know what mods I'll be doing first.

Those are some powerful dyno results on your Cobra. What boost do they run stock? (03's factory supercharged?) What kind of ETs and Traps does your car run? I am figuring 128-133mph? Low 10's, high 9's?

Lighten up on the guy a little. His post asks about performance for the 335xi which there are not that many posts specific to power enhancement on that particular model. The cars you are all referring to are posts that are specific to the 335i. Yes they have the same motor, but the power delivery is entirely different.

The guy had 8 posts, I believe, when he started this thread and some of you are jumping all over his ass...this is one of the reasons I spend very little time on this forum, you're all a bunch of fu*King experts and don't have the time for someone just getting into this. I better NEVER see you post or ask anything that might have already been covered in a past post or I'll flame you to death!! Grow up, relax and take a freaking chill pill...if you don't like the thread pass over it, don't read it and don't participate... What a bunch of FREAKING LOSERS!! Get a fu$king life dude. I have rarely seen anyone comment or post things on the FAR superior xDrive models...now there's a topic to discuss...but again, I better not see you complainers chime in...do a search for the historical threads that address this topic. WOW...sorry about your unhealthy welcome...I wish I could apogize for their behavior but I wouldn't want to put forgiveness in the mouth of someone who already has their foot in it. |

its all the same xpt the drivetrain and suspension
I'm running Vishnu PROcede V1.47 (waiting for V2) on my XI with Eisenmann Meisterschaft exhaust (section 3), and a K&N drop in. The car is rocking out. Waiting to do strut bar, sway bar, and intake.

Assuming traction is not an issue (which it is, but still...) these cars can run mid 12's with just a "chip" and full exhaust. There is a guy on here than just ran 11.9 @ 117 on pump gas with 6-7k in mods. Shiv ran 12.2-12.3 with just race gas, chip and exhaust. Pretty impressive, huh? So, yes, the potential is high but the car has been on the market for only a little over 1 year, so we don't know the limits yet.

the N54 engine has a lot of potential and is seeing impressive numbers with just a chip. Traction is an issue for RWD 335's, so my thinking is that if you want a 335 that will hook up get the xi.

Please note here, Cobra guy, that chip = piggyback. There is no software available yet. Fairly remarkable performance when considering that its been all piggyback based so far.

Hey guys...im also new to this site and ive had my car for about 3weeks now. I completely agree with people lightening up on this post. Fist couple times i posted something on this forum i got yelled at too. Just for that ive been hesitant about posting any threads. Now, i finally figured out on how to search for things easier...particularly searching by title.
So please lets everyone relax....if you find something dumb just move along and let someone else answer it. Dont waste your time by posting something ridiculous when you could have answer that persons question. Anyway i have a 2008 335xi sedan 6mt and its wicked fast. Ive just installed the AA xede and Bov kit and now she sucks in your stomach. Next week ill put in the exhuast and dps then dyno it. Let you know how it goes. Ive yet to lose to any g35s, g37s, mustang gts, 350zs, and a mercedes c350. Im still waitning for something faster...but i dont see many cars faster on the road.. Cheers, manny |

As for my ETs and Traps... my best run was an 11.67 @ 126. That was with a bad coil pack that was causing some hiccups up top, and some crappy Nitto's that couldn't hook for crap and would spin through 2nd gear. Haven't been out to the track since getting the coil pack fixed and some 315 BFG drag radials though. Should be in the low 11's now, but no data to back it up. Some guys in the area with similar power have 10.6x @ 131mph, but those guys have a hell of a lot more track time than I do...

That's half of it, not being certain how to look something up when you're new on the board...you feel like you're asking a legitimate question and kind of introducing yourself at the same time...you know, thinking you might be welcomed aboard and then someone hits you with the flamethrower. It's my opinion to just ignore the idiots on the forum and post whatever questions you like...look them up in a search if you like or just post it again...until they buy the damn forum they need to understand they don't own it and don't control it. I particularly like hearing the new questions as they're usually something I am interested in anyways but just haven't asked yet. |

I know that much but there are some things that are a problem on the xi compared to the i. Like the short shift kit for instance. It goes on the i with no problems, but someone with an xi was thinking they had to drop the transfer case.
I thought the strut bar won't fit because of the stock air box. Aftermarket intake would fix this, but I haven't seen anything where this has been proven. IIRC there are no sway bars for the xi yet. The i's don't fit the xi. |
