safest way to paint intercooler

I'm trying to paint my name on my intercooler. I definitely want something that won't hurt the performance and efficiency of my core (so my guess is I have to use a paint brush to make sure that the paint doesn't block/cover the core fins).

what type of waterproof or weatherproof paint can I use and which local retailer carry it?

Any latex paint will work just fine. Just roll it on rather than a brush.

The mist from a spray can provides a much nicer finish and the paint won't be as thick as using a brush or roller, any intercooler you see with a logo or name painted on is manufactured that way.
