Looking for new tune

Hey guys. I sold my COBB V2 couple months ago when I was in need of money and now I'm back in the green So I'm looking for a new tune. I was checking out a bunch of comparison threads and peoples opinions but most are dated so I thought I'd try getting a updated view and based on my situation so keep the flaming on minimum lol.

My current mods are AMS intercooler and a DCI on a 2008 335xi auto. Been looking at the JB4 and a bit on procede and what's the consensus on the Vishnu tablet flash? Or I can always go with another COBB V3 though which I like the features on and get it protuned.

I know I should get the dp's (I was sold on them) till I learned about emissions testing and the smell. I looked into catted dp's but the reviews sucked and most said after few months it throws codes out and the gain is something like 15hpish (correct me if I was misinformed) so doesn't seem worth the money. I'd probably now sooner exchange my turbos cause that seems like a big power boost.

Also is it possible to get that feeling of being |push back in your seat" when the turbo's kick in when your hitting the throttle hard? You know the feeling I'm talking bout

All Input is welcome!

I have the same car and an AMS fmic! Get another Cobb and do a PTF (Pro Tuning Freaks) e-tune e40. You won't be disappointed!

Ya I been thinking of that. Dzenno and the guys have a package deal on the site, Cobb and a tune. But the gains they quoted weren't that great it seemed like. Or maybe I was expecting too much What about flash and piggyback combo? Guy I sold the Cobb to was in Nova Scotia Canada and he was running a piggyback and wanted to add a flash so he bought my Cobb. Kinda intrigued by the JB4 on the fly map selections.

I'd like to play with it a bit more but in Canada we don't have e85 so I can't mix that which I would if I could cause people claim it does wonders. Meth I really don't know that much about and haven't researched much. All I know is apparently it lights on fire and blows up easy if you crash? lol And I don't wanna sound dumb but what's OFT mean?

You won't change settings that often with the JB. I had the piggy/flash and really like the Cobb/PTF much better. Clean. Easy to switch maps. Multiple scenarios. Dzenno has taken care of me. Solid.

I'd stay away from the OFT...support has fallen off the map. I can't even get Vishnu to respond to emails anymore...I'd stick with something that has some support in case you need it.

IMO

for the price of the Cobb you can get a JB4 G5 and have enough left over to go to other mods. Maybe a nice new BOV and Charge pipe from ER with pre drilled meth bungs for future meth kit!?

meth is a hell of a drug... and no one has ever regret going JB4 they have FREE flashs available also if you want to go that route instead of OFT 499 bucks for free flashs.

As a fellow Canadian. I would say the tune is subjective. I have a JB4 that works well but a Cobb is as effective or better in some cases. I personally would go with Cat-less downpipes. Last I checked saskatchewan had no emissions testing and it is not illegal to modify emissions systems. This is a huge plus. The smell isn't really noticeable as long as you leave the secondary cats in place. It's up to you as to how you mod your car but a FBO 335 on petro Ultra94 should be making 420-450whp.

If you have a BT cable, to read out your software. I can remap it for you maybe a stage 1 or 1,5 should make 390-400hp

You don't need Cobb AP to flash your car. Flashing is free with a cable. Piggy is an option if you want to spend some $ and have NLS, integrated meth control w/safety or high boost.

I've been looking up info on meth kits etc trying to learn a bit more on it but the info is all over the place. From fires easily occurring, to needing a fail safe, some saying you don't need a fail safe etc. It intrigues me but need more info on it. Being in Canada I try and avoid paying the boarder charges and extra shipping from states so I but from n54 tuning and they only seem to have "bmw ww quick install kits" and the non-integrated for flash tuning.

Really going fbo (tune, fmic, dci, and dp's) on petro 94 makes 420-450whp? Isn't that a bit high? I've been hearing 370-390 and needing meth or ethanol mix to get you over the 400 barrier. When I brought my car in to get the FMIC mounted I talked to the mechanic who did it for me about dp's and he said it would fail the visual and sniff test. I'm also planning on moving to BC in near future but I think I should just pull the trigger on the VRSF catless ones since they're around 400 Canadian for the XI so not gonna break the bank.

If I go with the DP's and be fbo how does cobb with pro tune compare to JB4 or Procede when it comes to HP and TQ? And if I go with meth kit in future what kits are suggested, would same kits be used for COBB and JB4 or do they build different kits for each?

You should be able to break 400 for sure. A cobb protune should get you close to those numbers I would think from what I've seen. I decided not to push my DD that hard and just putter around on Map2 on the JB4. It is defiantly easier to get those numbers with ethanol. I'm hoping petro will bring E85 out west. Suncor has some ethanol plants and they may move in that direction.

Piggybacks will net you more hp since flash is limited by the boost ceiling of the DME. That's why everyone who has the hardware to support a lot of boost is stacking flash with a piggy.

thinking about getting a PTF with e85 but i have a stock fuel system. I'm lucky to have a e85 station close to home so i should take advantage of it.

Hows your car doing running e40 on the long run? does it mess with anything?

There is no e85 in Canada bro. So that's not an option.
